Default Common turbo flaws??

well i'm thinking about going ls turbo and i'm just doing a little research right now. just wanted to know what are the first thing to go wrong with a turbo car; considering that it is tuned, well maintained, and not floored daily.

do you guys think a turbo integra well last 3 yrs.
any feedback is apreciated.

Assuming these three items and that your not running a ridiculous amount of horsepower, I'd say it would definately last 3 yrs. That's also assuming you don't have real high mileage right now.

friends stock bottom end ITR lasted a year with lots of spirited driving, we took the engine down to increase the boost thats all. was still in 100% running order when we took it down. if it is done right and tuned conservatively, should stay together a long time.

The power will deff. make your engine wear out faster than if it was completly stock, but that's something we have to deal with when we mod our cars.
Also, freak things occur sometimes. Ity kind sucks. Some people have perfect conservative tunes, and maybe a rod will give, a bearing will spin, or piston will crack. You just have to be ready for it to break.
I wouldn't turbo the car and rely on it to get you around for the next 3 years, without having some kind of backup ride, or funds to buy a new engine, tranny, axle etc. if they break.

i agree... you will be much happier with a boosted ls.. but if you are really worried about it breaking.. then you should keep it stock

My advice is to just read as much archived posts on here as you can. Also dont cheap out on anything cuz most likely youre gonna need to replace it in the near future.

i've been doing a lot of research in the past month, most people cars break down due to lack of maintance and tuning. so how long have must of you guys driven your turbo cars. Also is exhaust leak a common problem?

also from the research i've been doing there "seems" to be a lot more boosted ls then any other motor honda motor.

just take care of the fuel and timing properly, and don't worry about it. I've been turbocharged for 4 years now, 2 on the stock motor, 2 with a built motor. And the only 'problem' I can think of is my charge pipe blew off once. Not a big deal. Exhaust leaks aren't a problem either, just use loctite where appropriate.

tune it right... pray and have a backup plan. my uber built motor spun a rod bearing with under 4000 miles on it... tune was fine, setup was kosher, just bad luck.
