wiring gti-r sr20det into ek
before anyone starts flaming, im doin this because of cost. wanted best bang for the buck. 1500 will get u a gti-r swap minus the awd trans. 220hp and 200 torque is a nice platform to start from.
wiring harness is almost complete. can anyone post a schematic for windshield wiper circuits for 98 ek dx?

can't help you at all but just wanted to say good luck. That will be a tight setup if you get it to run good. I'd like to see pics and stuff when completed.
Might start the new honda-tech trend!!!!!!!!!

seems like alot of work for a lil savings. you can get an ls swap for a lil more than 1500 bux and thats a bolt in. in the end i think that 1500 dollars is going to start adding up quickly. especially since pretty much everything will have to be fabbed up to make that swap fit the 6th gens chassis, i can't even imagine the rats nest of wiring your gonna have to figure out.

no sir, not in most states at least.
to thread creator though, keep us posted.

thanks for the support mike. its 98 hatch by the way. actually wiring wasnt all that bad, just need patience
. gauge cluster was giving me problems. so im opting for the s14 gauge cluster. it will fit, but will require a little cutting with the dremel. have not done that yet. changing around resistance values in the honda gauge cluster would have been a pain. but i found the s14 clutser and s14 dash wiring in my garage from last swap. my goal is 300whp reliable under $5k. ive done numberous SR swaps. i dont kno honda all that well, but i have a hatch as a daily driver. ive done the fwd sr20det swap from gti-r into sentra before for my cousin. figured id give it a go for my daily driver. for axles to line up, motor sits little bit forward. Griffin aluminum radiator is going to be pushed forward and mounted underneath radiator support. 3-4 inches extra room. im fabbing and welding mounts, turbo manifold, ic piping, exhaust, etc. in my garage to keep costs down. and yes, 300hp reliable can be done with SR for 5k. metal headgasket is essential for an SR. heres the setup i plan to use. havent acquired all the parts, but progressing slowly. money hurts. my cousin is using nearly same setup on his sentra producing 315 and chirping 4th really nasty.
93 transverse awd gtir sr20det (8.3:1 86 bore, 86 stroke)
b13 sentra fwd trans
quaife lsd (500 bucks more than a honda
)
walboro pump
nismo 555cc squirters
s13 8.5:1 pistons
hahn 20g
arp head studs
greddy metal head gasket
greddy rocker arm stoppers
z32 fuel filter
gt-r maf
jwt sentra 264 in/ex 10.5 lift
microtech engine management
this setup should fly in a much lighter hatch than a sentra.

haha nooooooooooooooo. thats why i keep my car registered in my sisters name out of state. cant do this where theres emissions. hopefully this swap will shut up all those people who make fun of me for having "powered by Nissan" shoulder pads on my sparco harness in my honda.

Wow, more power to you! I just don't know how cost effective it will be when everything is said and done. I really can't say, but I'd imagine it has the illusion of being inexpensive like the H22 swap. The swap itself isn't really any more expensive than a B16, but once you add in mounts and everything else, the price is up substantially.
The main problem with the SR20DET motors that are in the FWD cars is that there really isn't a very robust transmission if you plan to bump the power way up. Good luck. If you get it done, I'd love to see it.

my own, if you read. using 5/8" thick steel. like i said, i will try to do as much as possible in my garage. ic piping, brackets etc. you will not see a front mount on my hatch, it will be sleeper. will be using porsche air-water ic. so far, the only things that will be custom made out of shop are the cv axles.

If you can do most of the fabing yourself, it shouldnt cost too much.
Fabing mounts, doing the wiring, figuring out the proper axle combination, mounting the shift linkage, etc.
The only thing it's going to cost you is your time.
I've got a couple questions (just out of curiosity)
Does the b13 tranny use cable or rod for shift linkage?
Is the clutch opperated by a cable or hydraulics?
Does the DET engine harness run all the way into the cabin and connect to the ecu or is there an intermediate harness?

thanks guyz. yes, boost is addicting i might add. lots of aftermarket support for SR. i was considering using awd layout. would have been sick, but extra weight and im not hacking up my body to run a driveshaft tunnel, it is daily driven. wow, i typed in sr20det in the search. someone else is putting in sr20 in an old school hatch, but rwd. and the floor is gone!
so no one has a windshield wiper schematic for 98 dx hatch???????

slopoke, u can use cable or rod, depending how much u can fabricate. b13 uses cable clutch. however i will be using ka24 slave cylinder with sr20 push rod mounted to transaxle via bracket. the gti-r upper main engine harness will extend all the way down to the drivers kickpanel, or jdm passenger side. it connects directly to ecu. with rwd SR's, a lot of people like to make intermediate harnesses so they dont have to hack the stock one. for me, i unloom everything, solder, heat shrink, tape and loom everything up. im picky. so no one has the schematic for 98 hatch dx wiper circuits?
I think this is badass
. I also think it would be cheaper to do a B18B turbo, but that's just the penny-pincher in me talking.
But, man, you're hardcore and good luck with the project.

some pictures of this would be pretty sweet. it is nice to see people fabricating things
sorry i dont have that wiring schematic handy for yah though. just wanted to show some support. good luck

umm my first post said im almost done with the wiring harness already. missing cams, maf, ignitor chip, microtech and many misc necessary items, timing chain, gaskets etc.. i will be getting rid of b16a, y21, 4.4 kaaz lsd thats in the car currently soon.

yes very cost effective. just received my suzuki 89 gsxr oil cooler $25 bucks ebay. stainless lines and fittings, total oil cooler setup 45 bucks. $800 bucks for a blitz oil cooler?

goodluck, seems like a really good project you have there.
the only other honda with the same swap i have seen has been in some magazine from the Phillipines but never in the US.
great idea, and you are actually doing it.
