ATS 4.9 fd, or JUN 3's
I am torn over which to get, I can get a used set of JUN 3's with valvesprings, and retainers, for around the sale price as a ATS, here are my Mods now
JUN 2 intake cam
DC JDM
PYR OBD1
VAFC
Drop in filter
I will also be getting a Intake, either Icebox, or AEM, have not decided
But what do you think would make my car faster in the 1/4, and just all around better street car
ATS or JUN 3's
I am making 172/128 now

Get the Jun 3s over the final drive if you want to be faster in the 1/4 mile. The final drive will help you on the road course a lot more than it would in the 1/4 mile compared to jun 3s.
.....I was gonna say get the fd if you don't wanna pop the valve cover open, but you already have the jun 2 intake cam.
I say go for it... I just haven't been too impressed with any of the jun cams midrange - which is something the 4.929 can definitely make up for. Everyday driveability goes way up!
(Especially if you like to chirp 'em)
Actually, why not do both? I am telling you the fd will make an unbelievable difference. Most people don't believe it until they take a ride with someone who has it - almost like an s/c... Then if you want more, you can always add the III's and have some real fun...
I'm telling you the pull is crazy with a 4.929 - especially if you're coming from a 4.4 or lower...
Oh yeah, you won't have to retune the car either if you do the fd... With the 3's you'll be back on the dyno again so cost goes up again too... Also, these bigger cams like more compression - I don't remember what you have, but 11.5-12.5 is really needed to get the most out of them...

As far as the Intake goes...get an Icebox. The nice mid-range power of the Icebox combined with the more aggressive FD will make for a car that is pretty quick even off the big cam. Which is important when the car is being driven by a 300+ lb-Saiya-jin Prince.
Get the FD. I have the JDM and i am impressed with it. I hung with another R with more mods inluding Toda A's and lots of dyno time. I also mated it with the Exedy organic (awesome clutch) and comptech aluminum flywheel. Go for it!

For drag... get the JUN 3's. I personally think that 8500 rpms is too low of a shift point for the ats in drag racing. I have a buddy with the ats, and he would always get pulled on when he shifted into 4th, and the other guy was still in 3rd. Even for road course, I would say it was a toss up. You still gain quite a bit of mid-range with the JUN 3s. What are you going to tune it with??
