Wideband rental?? Portland Oregon....
I am going to be tuning my car this December after I move back to Portland Oregon...
I was wondering... is there a place that rents wideband o2 units? One that I can plug into my downpipe's extra o2 bung so I can street tune myself?
I was thinking of buying a wideband unit but I only really need it for as long as it takes to give my car a good tune... I know it's a good investment etc. but I would rather just rent one for a day and save some money...
Is there a company or shop in Portland, or anywhere, that rents widebands? If so, who are they? and how do I get in contact with them?
Thanks for the help!...

just a suggestion. We've been selling the Innovate LM-1 Meters and what our customers have been telling us is that they chip in with several friends and street tune their cars with the LM-1.
For a $350 unit, you can share the cost with several friends and cost comes down for all of you.

I'm with him. For the price of wideband everyone should have one haha. It will come in handy and you might need it in the future. And if your friends ever need it you can charge them to use it
Yeah, I agree that I should buy one... and I probably will some time in the future.
I haven't really had good experiences splitting things like this with friends, so I'm not sure if I want to do that or not.
I'm willing to pay out some money for rental or whatever. I just don't want to spend the $300+ right now.

I honestly thought about it for a few seconds. As a shop ourselves to see if its a good return on investment to rent it out
Positives: Make Money
Negatives:
* Possibility of customers damaging it.
* How many local guys will actually want to "rent" one out.
* For the Amount to charge, will you get your investment back?

i just bought an lm-1 to share with my friends, but nobody that said they would has chipped in on it
. I'm beginning to think that now i don't want to split the cost...i'm just gonna charge people like $50 to use it. It is a very nice wideband by the way...espescially if you are using it on more than one car

I live in portland and I havent heard of anyone that rents one. I would say go to like TorqueFreaks(www.Torquefreaks.com) and rent out there dyno and tune. I got some wideband tunning done on my new turbo setup at PRE here in portland and they use the Innovate LM-1 works well, so if nothing else pick up one of those.

I think you could make money doing this... but,
- You would have to have the customer sign some sort of contract and maybe give you a credit card # as well... that way, if they break it, they buy it.
- Even if you charged like $50 a day you would make your money back in a small number of uses. I think it would be a good return on your investment.
- The only negative might be... how bid is the market? How many people would want to rent one?
I'm thinking about just making an appointment with TorqueFreaks if I can't find one just to borrow from someone.

Torquefreaks is going to run you $95/hr. to rent dyno/wideband.
Why not just buy a cheap wideband? If nothing else turn around and sell it when you are done. I bet your depreciation loss would be less than your average rental fee.

Hmmm... good point.
I guess if I can't find one to borrow I will do this. I kinda want to buy the kit and solder/build the thing myself... I think that would be fun!

That would work. Don't those kits run about $250ish (after you get the kit, cables, display, and bosch o2 sensor)?
The Innovate unit is fairly cheap too, but its not something you would want to permanently install (altho it doesnt sound like you care about that).
