Default What's a good beginner bike?

I'm toying with getting a bike, for weekend street use only. I'm completely new to bikes and know nothing. Any input much appreciated.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't see the sticky. I tried to delete this post but it wouldn't let me because it's the first one. Again, sorry.

well depends on how well u pick up on things, id recommend a katana 600 for the average beginner, however if you want to stick with honda go with cbr 600 f4i, tame at lower rpm's, but one mean bitch from 8 grand n up. Sits very comfortable for a sportibke, rider friendly. However the katana is still a lot more tame, but i personally prefer f4i's cause it will hang with the other 600's and most importantly its a Honda!

alot of the guys around here will tell you a good starter bike would be 250 ninja or 500, but it really all depends how much you respect the machine, and how comfortable you feel on it. I dont know how much of the sticky you read but it is filled with good advice, i suggest reading it all if you havent.

Ninja 500
F1 or F2 CBR
FZR 600

Thats what I would recommend. They are all more than capable to have fun on, can be had for cheap, and won't get you in to trouble if you respect them. But look into the MSF course also, you learn a ton from that course.
