windshield rock chip repair?
stupid pickup in front of me flung a rock which hit my windshield just below my line of sight through the windshield. it left a crack which looks like an oval bubble (no spider web cracks) in the windshield. does anyone have experience getting these cracks filled/repaired? cost??? visibility through repaired area?
From all the glass guys I've talked to it seems that the rule of thumb is if the damage is bigger than a quarter then it's not fixable. So I've been told. Should be no more than $20 to fix.

If y'all lived near me I'd hook you up.

That's what comprehensive insurance is for.
I've had numerous repairs done, and the work was always completely covered by insurance. The shop I use bills the insurance company directly, so I just sign the receipt and I'm all set.

i'd only report comprehensive damage if it was large in nature. not a petty $50 dollars.

You don't get hit with any points for rock chip repairs. I used to be in the business--if you've got full coverage, then you can have these repairs done at no cost. It's in your insurance packet that you get when you sign up with an insurance company (under "Windshield repair" section). I've only run into about 2 companies that will not cover, but they're usually small local insurance companies. Most of the major ones, like State Farm, Nationwide, Geico, etc will cover it 100% and it WILL NOT affect your insurance premium at all.
Also, those cheap kits you get at WalMart won't really do anything at all. Waste of money, IMO.
