Default H22 Accord vs. 2005 Accord EX

I ran against a 2005 Accord lx with my 94 accord with the h22 200hp VTEC engine in it and cold air with 2.5 exhaust. At 125mph in 4th gear at 7000rpm and he keeped pulling away and left me 10-12 car lengths away.

Should I have put my car into 5th gear to stay with him even though it felt like I was still pulling?

I looked at the spec's on this 2005 accord, I should have been able to take him. I am not understanding what the difference is on the new accord.

Which of the 2005 Accords came with the V6 6spd manual? Could it have been one of those?

Oh, you weren't doing this on the street were you? If so, please keep it at the tracks

Edit:
which Accord did you run, a EX or a LX? In your title you put EX and in your post you put LX and EX.

better aerodynamics? maybe your motor isn't running in top condition? who knows...

and i'll refrain from giving you the "what the f*** are you doing racing people on the highway, especially at +125mph" speech.

only EX coupes could get the V6 6-speed.

and i'm pretty sure it's safe to say he's not at a track considered the speeds and relatively stock motors (assumption, considering info given).

It might hurt to hear this, but he was a better driver than you. Or he had a better running car.

Was the car a 2dr or 4 dr? Since you saw the back end, did it have single or dual exhaust tips? If a 2dr with dual exhaust, that was probably a 6 spd. V6. Those cars are quick, and they dont run out of steem very easily. I work for Honda and I love test driving the 6 spd. WAY FUN!

THey do come with 240 hp stock. Was it the V6 or 4 cylinder because that can make a hell of a difference. If its the 4 cylinder you should be able to beat hims with no problem what so ever but if its the v6 then be prepared to have your *** handed over to him.....

You should be taking down the v6 accord too. You must really not know how to drive. To get beat by the 4 cyl accord is pathtic if you have a h22. Those things are like 17 sec cars. All i can say is fix your car or learn how too drive. You must be shifting right when vtec hits to get beat that bad.

What so skillfull about changing gears when you hit redline? Nothing. All you have to do is change gears and press on the gas. It's not like I was cutting in and out of traffic where true skill is required.

When your on a long stretch, Top speed is important, I was in 4th gear at 125mph and the accord just walk pass me slowly.

The new accords must have a higher top speed then the 95 H22 engines.

And it was not a V6.

What are you talking about. Yea they are governed at 117 but the car wont slow down at 105. At 117 it just hits fuel cut but it pulls like normal too that. So what you are saying basically is that you hit your rev limiter and the accord guy just kept going when you were topped out. If thats the story race him from a stop or get rid of your govenor bc you should not get beat by that heavy 4cly sohc vtec car. Even if that car was spraying you should still be able to beat it.

no i never said it hits rev limit. where in my reply does it say that?

i said it slows down. from my experience (auto h22 w/ jdm p13) that car wouldnt accelerate as fast past 105mph. Now its converted to manual and running a usdm p13 and it pulls all the way pass 120+ w/o fading.

Jesus please read someones post before you start posting what you THOUGHT someone else wrote.

I have a p13 and if the p13 is govered at 117 then something must be wrong with my gauge because it was on the 125 mark. Also the new Accords are not SOHC anymore they are now DOHC.

We originally started at about 40mph. I was in 3rd gear and when my Vtec kicked in, I was pulling away from him I did the same in 4th gear as well, but when I got to 125mph, that's when he cought up to me and passed me. I could catch at that point.

Once again, The new accords must have a higher top speed.

No worries I will be boosted very soon. That will not happen again.
