Default poor mans type r

Short version:
should i get a complete 2000 civic si b16a2 swap and sell the block and then buy a gsr block and bolt it up to the b16 tranny and head and call it a day??????will this work????

Long Version:
hey i know i shouldnt get a 1.6 liter, i always wanted a gsr, but i can get a good deal on a 2000 b16 swap and i was wondering if in order to bild a poor mans type r if all i need to buy is the gsr block????

does everything in the gsr block bolt right up to the b16 tranny and b16 head and what not????

if i do this gsr block, with pr3 b16a2 head then what timing belt should i buy shouldnt it be for the block???

finally is this even a good idea does this setup pull harder then a gsr??? or should i pass up this GREAT deal and just save up for a gsr swap

thats not too bad. Honestly, it sounds like alot of work for someone who is inexperienced.

personally, I would buy the si swap and put it in, and go from there
however, it will all bolt right up.

Why not?

I think it will. the b16/b18 hybrid seems to work well, and teh shorter gears of the si tranny will do you good.

just put the b16 in your really gonna go thu all that trouble for 10 hp? just take that 600 (price range of a b18c1 block) and apply it to a turbo setup.

well i am not just going to buy a gsr block and thats it i will sell my b16a2 block and add whatever the difference is my only fear is that i wont be able to find a gsr block in good condition that hasn't been beaten

if i just swap the b16 then i will go turbo, but if i swap the gsr block i will go NA

i'd rather go Na for reliability issues but with the b16 its worth going turbo so that i can get some kind of power out of the biatch

Before the end of 3rd gear I have 1-2 cars on my friends' b16's in my d16...

edit: not trying to start a b-series -vs- d-series war

I basically just did that, not because I wanted to but because I had to lol.

Originally I had a SirII B16 Swap with LSD trans, but i crashed the car and needed a new transmission so i got a JDM ITR trans. (4.40 not 4.785, i know i know..) and put that into my new civic. Then I spun a bearing. (ALWAYS CHECK YOUR OIL!!) so I picked up a B18C5 shortblock, some ITR cams, Intake Manifold and Throttlebody, so now, I have basically a Type R, without the headwork.
