Well, it stayed together and gained 2 seconds at the track.
Was worried the engine might have a blown head gasket after some smoking issues... yet, i was unable to get it to smoke since the catch can install... odd.
I am losing coolant though, but, I have a hose that looks like it's leaking on the exhaust...which would cause the smoking...who knows.
Regardless, I took it to the track today. NASA was running LVMS's ORC. I love this track since there's a lot of higher speed turns as well as lots of passing room.
Last time out, i netted 2:09s pretty consistently...that's with 36lb 15" wheels/tyres and a B16A w/ 134whp.
This time out, i had 32lb 15" wheels/tyres (same tyres) and a b18c1 w/ 158whp.
1st Session, 2:11s. Not a problem as I know ***I*** had more.
2nd Session, 2:09s. A bit better, but, I can break later at certain areas.
3rd Session, 2:07s. Much better and I almost felt like I was drifting the car thru more turns.
4th Session, 2:08s, but I ran out of gas on lap 3. Do'h.
During my 2nd session, I was running with a '90 Civic Si w/ a B18C5 in it on Toyo RA1s (i was on Victoracers v700s). We were ALL over each other. He would pull away at the long straights (but, not by much)... I would catch up with him in some of the turns. I had a lighter car (CRXs ARE better than Civics
), but he had a LSD.
Biggest thing was, he could brake MUCH (10-15') later. Although he was locking them up in a lot of turns... it was still noticably later. He's running the same brake setup as I was, except he had rear discs and newer pads (my pads were at the backing plate by the end of the 4th session).
Overall, the extra 20+hp and nearly 20ft-lbs of torque lowered my lap times by 2 seconds.
I had a friggin BLAST running with another car similarly prepped to mine. It's a very surreal experience running with someone who can drive their car as well as you can drive yours and have equal power to weight ratio...

That is about the most fun you'll ever have.
to you for a great time out. What alignment are you using? Suspension, etc?

Upon further inspection, your website answered most of my questions.
Still curious about the alignment, unless it's a secret.

driven- if your coolant hoses are feeling very firm and pressurized, or your oil level seems to be increasing (or decreasing) rapidly, you probably do have a leaking headgasket.

the oil pressure stays steady except at various RPMs (which it should move).

I'm running 1/16" toe-out in the front and 1/16" toe-in in the rears. I totally stole my alignment from a GRM article...
and thanks for the kind words all... yes, the B18C1 went it after the article. Took a month, but, it runs good now. After this past weekend, I have a feeling i may just have a leaking coolant hose and no blown hg...

Nice video Zam <grin, see credits>
Very nice to see a CRX represent out there. I've always been a fan of your yellow racer
Btw, is there a version of this video without the background music?
I would love to hear the engines and tires
thanks
