A friend of mine had 17s with ~1.5" drop and they rubbed in turns and on bumps. He ended up trading his H&R coilovers for my stock suspension. I think it would still occasionally rub. Try rolling the fenders?

i heard its been done but you will rub or mess your fender or your wheels up when you hit a pot hole or a ditch.. IMO not worth it ... 17 is the biggest you should go..

a guy on Automotive Forums used to have 18's on his 4th gen hatch. The problem with 18's is there too wide. There usually 7-8" and have to run atleast a 225 tire, and it is impossable to fit a 225 under the fenders of a civic without it rubbing suspension stuff, so if you have them they will stick out about an inch past the fenders at the very least, witch will lead to other problems like your fenders accually sitting on the tires.

Flair your fenders and have at it! There are companys thatsell fiberglass fender flairs - just cut out your fenders and bondo them in. IMHO its a ton 'a work, but remember the Hot Rodders Motto: 'Everything Fits'.

Yeah no kidding, 4.5 " and it doesn't rub? Must have no bumps where you live. I have 15's with azenis and maybe 2" drop. That sucker hits the plastic fender liners on any decent dip.

I say throw 18's on and autocross it. Tell me it doesn't **** things up.

I have 16 x 7 with 205/45/16 tires on Eibach 1.0/1.2 drop and it still rubs. It hurts every time. Had the rear fenders flared, helped a little, but I can't imaging 18s on. That gotta rub on a left or right turn.

18" OZ on an EK4, don't ask me 'bout dem tires, tho'. A dude from our Honda Club. Wouldn't want passengers in the back with those on, like so many said 17" would be tops 'n even that's bad.
If you wants a show-ride, I s'pose there ain't no stoppin' ya, just think it through one more time. Best o' luck.

Edit: Don't bitch 'bout the size o' the pic', I'll fix0r it when I get off work.
Edit2: Right, couldn't get PhotoShrubbery workin', settle for the link, ladies.

If you got some wheels like these which are 18x7. With some Khumo MXs or ASXs in a 215/35/18 size or something like that, it should fit. Not much tirewall there, so you'll probably bend a rim. But it'll fit OK, total diameter will only be about an inch more than stock.

I got a 90' civic hatchback with 17". I forget the tire size but it still a decent ride. Never had any rubbing, but mine isn't lowered either. I wouldn't suggest going with 18"s, I heard they rub. Also if you lower it I highly suggest going with lowering springs-NOT COIL OVERS . I have had them but tossed them for practical reasons when i got the wheels

I have 17" Tenzo R's on my 91 ReX, it was fine before I lowered it. I dropped it 2.5" at first, way too rough. Then I got some Neuspeed springs which went up about a half inch, not as bad but its's still pretty bad around corners. I've had them for a year and a half already and my rear driver's side is sagging

unless you are going all show or trailoring that thing to shows, personally I think 18's are pointless. On your average road it doesn't matter what you do to the suspension you're gonna rub. Especially with passengers or any cargo in the back. Shoot I can easily fit 18's on my wrx and I'm running 17's so I can run wider tires.

Basically if you want to run 18's you aren't gonna want to drop it much. Like an inch, inch and a half tops. You're gonna want a high offset and very low profile tires.

I was gonna run 53 offset on my subaru so I could run 235 but I fell upon some 48's and am running 225's. You are gonna want something along those lines. at least a 45.

Roll your fenders and maybe trim about half and inch to an inch off the edge plastic around your fender liner.

I wouldn't go any picker than 205's if you can help it.

personally 17's are big enough..even for a show car. Plus you can go lower.

I ran 17's on my dx coupe with about an inch drop and the thing was perfect. Still rubbed on occassion with anything over about 500 pounds on board.

just my humble opinion.

Yeah 215/35/18's. I only had them on for like an hour for fun. They wouldnt fit on the front if i wanted to turn. I didnt have a problem in the back but the back is only lowered like an inch. The front is like 2.5'. I normally roll on 195/50/15's and they are the ****(the ones in the front. If your going for performance and you still want that look drop the car on some 16's or even 17's is really big. Cause the inch your gonna be able to drop your car is gonna be useless cause the 18's will raise it up at least that much.

Jason.

The only thing I can't stand looking at 18" wheels is the 9" brakes behind them
