Default water pump question

Would it be ok to buy a waterpump from Advance Auto and not an OEM Honda? How would it compare in quality or durability?
The advance auto one is wayyy cheaper then a honda one.

btw - this is for a d-series

You COULD, but I'd just go with OEM. The water pump is only $50 from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com.

If you're gonna do it, might as well do it right.

I would NEVER cheap out on a such a vital part for the engine. water hoses, heater hoses, vacuum lines, wiper blades are the only things you should go cheap on. Never on a water pump. Like the ol' saying: you get what you pay for.

BTW the water pump for D-series engine is so cheap why bother buying a cheaper unproven part?

You should not buy vital parts from a non-OEM place. Get the OEM unit. I've seen ones from Autistic Zone go at 20k while OEM units go past 100k.

When did you change your timing belt and did you replace the pump at the same time? If you did it at 90K you might want to keep the pump?
