I noticed that some cars I see , have bumpers that are molded with the fenders as well as side skirts that are molded the the body. thus making it seem like 1 big body kit. I like it because it looks smooth. Question is, how do you do it? I am thinking some for of Bondo? but I think that would crack too easy. So is there anything I can do to mold them together without risking cracking?

get a custom sheetmetal body kit and weld that **** together lol jk but fiberglass should work.... you could ask a body shop in your area for alternative methods then bondo

 

If they mold the side skirts to the doors then the side skirts will have to open with the doors. Which means you will have to cut side skirts. Good luck with that.

As far as molding the bumpers to the fenders and such, I have no clue what they use. If you are talking about those full drag cars where they have to take off the fenders, bumper, and hood to work on the engine, then that is one piece that is very thin and not meant for street use.

Dont use bondo its from newbs and retards. Duraglas is the best stuff out there its water resistant and wont crack.

Duraglass is still a form of fiberglass. If the impact is hard enough, it will.

Its called Kitty Hair, not Tiger hair, and to mold bumpers to fenders, fenders to sideskirts, and sideskirts to quarter panel (back bumper) i would not use it.

This is true except for the part were it wont crack. Its true it wont crack like normal stuff (fiberglass, bondo, etc) but it will crack. This is your best choice to use, sand it down then put a <FONT SIZE="3">THIN</FONT> layer of bondo to smooth it out and your set.

 

Well yes it will crack if you crash your car or something. but you can hit it and it wont crack. Bondo is plastic thats the whole problem with it.

after reading this thread i know understand i'm the smartest person here. Thank a god.

 

My suggestion is, have a specialty body shop do it. Unless you are very skilled with body work, it is a big no-no. If you want the experience, by all means, go ahead. But if you screw something up, it is going to cost a lot to get it fixed. My dad and I are repairing a few things on my car and prepping it to paint the whole damn thing. He has worked in a body shop (painting cars) his whole life, and he is still hesistant to do any major body work. But we are going to anyway . I trust him. Good luck.

um i would not recommend shaving a kit onto a car, only b/c if you ever get any damage, its going to be a pain in the *** to repair it, then you have to get 1/2 your car repainted. I shaved absoulty everything on my truck, had a custom flame job, then someone back up into me on my 20 miles or less paint job that took3 months, they had to repaint the whole truck, b/c the front fiberglass bumper was shaved onto the fenders...

Note: do not shave any sort of bumper to your body.

but if you want to &lt;mental&gt; you can use KITTY hair, or ole-fiberglass cloth, i used about 9 layers inside and out of cloth, then threw some body filler on it, turned out flawless. i could stand on my bumper and jump on it, without cracking it

agreed, and there are those moments when you need to remove your bumper for some kinds of work. then you'd just be screwed.
