Default * NEED HELP! * 2 broken LCA bolts * looking for shop in San Jose area!!! *

Hey guys, can someone recommend me a shop somewhere around San Jose that can remove broken LCA bolts? [ the head snapped right off when I was trying to remove it ]. I'm looking to have the bolts removed, and have my rear coilovers installed.

I also need new LCA bolts

also, i attempted to use a bolt extractor to remove the bolt, but the damned thing broke while trying to do it

If you can recommend a shop (and/or) prices .. that would be awesome.

oooh boy, the famous LCA bolt snapping it's head. it's happened to so many of us. the bolt is rusted inside the bushing in the LCA. ur gonna need to cut the other side of the bolt that connects the shock to the LCA. this will allow u to get the shock out. then u gotta take out the LCA in order to press out the old bushing and press in a new one. (when ur taking off the whole LCA, sometimes the other bolt that is below the rear disc brake also snaps (this is what happened to me) if that happens then ur gonna have to cut that bolt off too and get that bushing as well. it took me quite a few hours to do mine. actuallt it took me 2 days to complete (most of the time was spent on waiting for parts)

good luck man!

IMO this is the worst part about integra's and civic's

yeah. it happens to too many ppl. thanks for the bump.

anyways, for reference, the bolt is a grade 8 bolt .. made to handle 40ft-lbs of torque.

still looking for a shop to do this for me. i can't go for longer than a day w/o my car.

you can do it yourself if you have an air compressor. just go to the local sears or hardware store and buy a cutoff wheel. its a pain but thats how i did it.

i don't have an air compressor .. and if time wasn't an issue for me .. then i'd probably do it myself. and i don't think i know what a cutoff wheel is

[ sometimes, no wait, make that all the time - i wish i had a full garage w/ a lift and everything ]

If money is not an issue, go to the junkyard and buy a set of LCA and used, or new shocks. You can get the bolt there also.

took it to RedStone [ http://www.redstoneonline.com/ ] .. they charged me an hour to remove the destroyed bolts and to finish my suspension install. awesome service. very cool guys. they're also hosting a meet this weekend [ https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1024045 ].

hehe. they took off the welded bolt [ using a huge breaker bar ], then they cut the bolt on the threaded end, then they removed the LCA .. then they removed the bushing along w/ the bolt. they replaced my bushings and the bolts. awesome service

thats how i removed mine too

so only the bolt that goes through the LCA and shock was frozen. ur lucky cuz Four of my bolts were frozen and snapped. the two for the LCA to shock and also the bolts that are below the rear disc brakes. lucky u! i had to wait forever for the parts guy to drop off the parts, thats why it took me soo long to fix.

glad to hear u fixed ur problem
