Painting MR5's..
Hi
I tried to find a place to take my MR5's apart but no luck.
I went to a panel beater to ask about painting my rims, but tehy say ..by the shape and curves, the paint will crack and peel off...
but yea i really want them black in the middle. and i was thinking of painting the entire wheel black including the BOLTS itself.. all black (Except for the lip)
do u think this is an easy task..
has anyone else painted MR5's how good does the paint stick on it
thanks

I painted mine, turned out looking great. Been like this for about 8 months now, used PPG paint, no chipping. Painting doesn't really effect the wheel, you can always sandblast them back to aluminum...

yeah paint em. people are lame if they actually think "ohh they are a certain brand name, u cant ruin them" well fact of the matter is, they are just pieces of metal, who cares about the company its just people stupid ways to see and name and think somehtign special of it. IF THEYT LOOK BAD< WHY NOT PAINT THEM? jeez. go pay 140 for a pair of jeans at abercrombie, ITS GENUINE!
anyways, i think these are some opf the best lookign rims when painted, most rims cant get that look when painted, but no matter what color these mr5's end up, they still have a classy look to them. best of luck. BTW i would suggest powder coating if you plan on these things ever seeing snow or dirty roads.
EDIT* BTW panda those wheels look nice and clean with your paint. i am from OH too, medina/akron

Yea, if you don't like it, sandblast it! Can't really ruin them, it's a piece of aluminum after you get it apart. 90% of the MR5's are nasty looking anyways, yellowing and corroding. My wheels are FS BTW, time for some RSZ-Rs!
