I know nothing about engines. but I need to know if this is a D16A, pic inside.
Hey fellas, I know nothing about engine names.
I always see you guys talking about B16,B18, etc.
From the research I have done, I believe my engine is a D16A.
My civic is an Si 90. which is in the shop at the moment being fixed and painted.
can anyone confirm what kind of engine is this? and where can I find the name of
it in the engine itself? Thanks.

Well, for the looks of it, it looks like a D16, unless someone swap the intake maniford (which I doubt - Civic Si sold in the US came with D16s).
To find the engine code look mid left of the header and go down. Their will be a 1.5 x 1 inch area that read something like this:
D16A
SerialNumber

looks like you have a D16A6, a great platform to start off with as long as it dosen't burn to much oil. You can run low 15s with it with minor boltons

i dont know if its the Si 1.6...look where the spark plug wires are at? i didnt think they were in the back like the SOHC vtecs...well, i cant member what my A6 looked like but i dont think my D15B looked like that either...i dont know just check ur block number. below the head left hand side right where the tranny bolts up..

you've got it backward, on SOHC VTEC motors the spark plug wires are on the front, non-VTEC is on the back side. A D15B would be a VTEC motor so the wires will be on the front
Yea thats how it goes
cept not all D15B's were vtec....for instance the D15b in the crx was the DX model it wasnt vtec...
