Default Interior Lighting

I just bought an underseat glow kit, and I know it's illegal to drive with them on. I want to hook them up to the circuit that the dome light is on so I can have them on/off/open door. Has anyone else done this? What about just hooking it up to an individual door?

(If I get yelled at to 'search' I just tried and it said 'search server down' )
I have a 98 accord if that matters at all

WARNING: due to the extreme partisan group here at honda-tech questions about "flaming" car ideas will receive nothing but flames. So either put your flamesuit on or get out before your burned alive

im going to be nice

you could try to hook them up to the door button (the thing actually in the door jam) so when the door is open that side goes on

just a thought...

thanks snowsurfer

but 2000ebp_si please explain what qualifies as a 'flaming' idea, excluding your personal opinion, that way I don't post one again.

What he means is, since your ideas aren't what others on this site would think is tasteful, they will talk **** about it or "flame it". The flamesuit reference is a funny way of saying get your guard up because people are about to talk **** about you.

I wish I could help you but I don't know what to tell you. Good luck with it, a few years ago I may have tried the same thing.

I think by flaming idea, he basically meant stuff like trying to hook up lights under your seats.

so, they are basically going to be on just while you open the door and shut it? That's like 5 seconds......or, are you going to go park places and leave your doors open so they'll come on? I don't get the point either way, but......to answer your question I guess you would just need to tap into that wire for the courtesy lights or the dome light. I'm not sure how much power they need though as the wires for these may not provide enough power. You may just have to run it on a toggle switch, and turn it on/off like that. Best of luck to ya.

yeah thanks guys. I could even drive with a door open to keep them on...
but anyway if it was on the dome light it could be on/off or with the doors open, but I ended up hooking them to a reg. switch through my amp. I now have the added option of them pulsing with the bass...which might qualify as flaming also.
