EVAP canister replacement---CEL code P1457
I read the helpful posts about the P1457 CEL code. I took it into the dealer who quoted me $360 to replace the CVS Valve and canister although only the valve is not working. I noticed that JimBlake had the same issue. However, no part store carries the valve or canister. Is the dealer the only fix? Also, ever since the CEL light went on I noticed that I had problems when filling up at the gas station. The filler hose automatically shuts off unless it is barely open. What could cause the filler hose to shut off...a bad EVAP canister..or valve...or is there an issue with the tank itself? Thanks.
The CVS valve is a common problem on Accords. Sometimes the screws that hold it to the canister seize and cant be removed, so the canister gets replaced also. Neither one is likely to be your fueling problem.
Replace the Evap canister and vent shut valve... it will take care of your problem.
The vent shut valve is probably not working, and the evap canister could become
soaked with fuel.

The canister wont get flooded with fuel because of a bad CVS valve.

Or... Go thru the checks & determine which part of the system is really broken.

Just because the CVS valve is a common failure, it doesn't mean that's what's broken on YOUR car.
The fuel fill pipe itself is pretty much part of the tank, as far as the EVAP system can tell. If your gas cap was loose, fill pipe leaked, or even the tank itself wasn't airtight, it should throw P1456 instead. But your problem doesn't sound like an air-leak.
I sorta remember something about the other vent lines alongside the filler pipe, but I didn't get that far. Once I found the bad CVS valve I didn't have to do the remaining half-dozen tests... Some of those vent hoses are to vent the tank as you fill. Maybe if one's pinched, it developes enough back-pressure to trip-off the gaspump nozzle?
btw, I didn't find the CVS valve at an autoxone-type store. I think I got it at http://www.manhonda.com which is sorta like a dealer...
