HELP: Can't get into reverse and 5th is hard to get out of.
I really don't know what happened. I left a parking lot and reverse was fine. I was driving around, did a couple 1st to 2nd pulls for fun, and then when I try to get into reverse again, I can't. 5th is also hard to get into, but harder to pull out of. I hit a hard bump earlier in the evening, but I think my header took the force of that (reverse was still perfectly fine afterwards). All my other gears seem to work okay. Any ideas? Not having reverse sucks ***...

Thanks in advance for any input.

just one suggestion, roll the car slightly in the first and while inching along feel the reverse and pop it in, there is always a spot where it goes easy in, if it gets stuck in reverse roll again and apply slight pressure it should pop right out...
Give it a try it might help...

i can enveer get into reverse the first time.. i pump the cluth a couple times and try and it always slips in. i have to pull kinda hard tho lol...
I've read about people having to roll forward a bit, or put it in a forward gear and then try to reverse. I'm sure I tried both with no luck. Is there anything I can look for without disassembling anything?

I was afraid of that. At this point, is it cheaper to just get another tranny
? ...haha just trying to think positive. I just took a drive around, and 5th is a pain in the *** to get into, and maybe I'm just thinking it now, but it seems like every gear is a *little* harder to get into. I changed my tranny fluid about 10k miles ago if that relates in any way.
try changing your tranny fluid. i did it and it feels like my tranny is brand newlike when i first got the car. but yeah try that first cause the way your car is acting sounded like mine but then i changed the fluid and it worked out fine!

It doesn't go into reverse at all. 5th is being problematic too. It grinds every now and then when I shift between gears, but I think it's because I don't use enough clutch.

I had a problem like that before but i couldent go in 2/4 or reverse. It was my shift linkage. If your useing a cable tranny might wanna check your shift linkage
