Rule of thumb.

blue smoke = burning oil
White smoke = coolant burning
Black smoke = Rich air fuel mixture.

This should point you to your answer

um.. i thought blue smoke=bad piston rings & white smoke=burining oil... and you wouldn't be shooting out fire if you still had a cat.

blue is oil from getting past the rings, white is coolant from a bad head gasket

you'd like to think you can't run rich enough to shoot fire out of a car with a cat but my 91 Corrado G60 used to do it everytime i got on it. but yes you're right, with a god cat that won't happen so this person's is now shot...

but i've heard of hondas pushing blue smoke right out of the factory, someone i know bought a prelude that did, and another friend of mine's parents bought a honda SUV that did it???
