What do you mean by that? Do you think its bad for the car or just reminding me of the speed limit?

anything could happen.. deer runs out and you hit it...to hitting a bump and losing control... to having a tire blow... anythings possible but the dangers are magnified at higher speeds

Well I don't want anything to break.

How fast should I be going?

Also, what can I do to make my car go fast without anything breaking. I don't have the money for a swap and turbo and I'v heard thats what you do to get the best results.

I have two friends that have jettas one is a 97 tdi and one is 1.8t

The 1.8t is pretty damn fast. The tdi still can get up to 115.

most civics have a 120mph speed governor,
your ecu will not let you go faster.

most civics will get up to around 115-120
even without vtec

never do that anywhere where theres anything anywhere near you though..

I like the speed limit, its safer for everyone.

Why go that fast anyway?

There is a local highway that is always opened with not many cars/cops.

I guess if I ride 4th gear up to 90mph then I can get 5th gear to over 100.

you can hit your top speed in 4th... shifting to 5th wont make much of a difference.. you can try...but your speed wont increase much or at all

We were just going for a little joyride on a local highway in newark. Basically I know civics are ecom cars and aren't ment to go fast but i want to beat the damn jettas. Anyway I don't normally drive this fast. I only did it to see how fast i can go.. It was a safe spot.

Think dude.... your on a 3mile straight road where theres hardly any cops. If something happens to you guys whos going to save you?

Take it where theres people that will watch you and make sure nothing goes wrong.

going fast at a track is one thing, but flying around public roads doing those speeds gives us a bad name, "the punk kids flying around town causing all the trouble"

I'm not planning on doing it anytime soon.
Can you offer any tips to make me faster?

What will a chip do for me and are there any websites you have?

You know. Last time I checked, people don't come here to get preached at. It's honda-tech.com, not honda-safety.com. And on top of that, there's a shitload of people who make remarks about going fast on public roads like they've NEVER, EVER done this. We've all done it, and a lot of us will never do it again because we're smarter than that. However, it's not your duty to yell at people whenever someone talks about anything over 80mph and examplify your own self righteousness.

hondata can remove your speed limiter.... and to go faster you'll need A. More Power.....and B. The Limiter Removed a C. if you have to much power you may run out of gearing so you could change those.... but you shouldnt be doing those speeds on any type of public road
