my brakes are acting up no leaking fluid either. need an answer
94 Civic VX Setup: stock front brakes, rotors, calipers, pads. rear disc conversion off a 94 Si with all stock rotors, calipers, pads. master cylinder and booster off 93 gsr, 40/40 proportion valve, and stainless steel lines around all four corners. Bled the brakes with the order: Right rear, left front, left rear, and right front
Heres the problem: When I'm driving on the highway, and haven't pressed my brakes in a while, then I go to press them, and theres a huge gap in the pedal. After that first tap on the brake pedal, the gap is no longer as big and goes back to normal. I checked the booster and it doesn't seem to leak or have lost any fluid. Could it be my lines being shitty? Bled the brakes incorrectly? Maybe just bad pads? Please help, thanks in advance.

2 things come to mind when i hear this
1) master cylinder, the seal between the sections
2) brake booster, do you ever get a hard pedal?

I personally bleed from right rear, left rear, right front, then left front in all of mine and my friends cars with no problems. Try searching the archives and see what else it could be if that doesn't work.

I work at a goodyear service shop. First of all, you should bleed both fronts, then both rears. Secondly, it sounds like bad calipers. If neither of these are it, go to the master cylinder.

who taught u to bleed both fronts, then the rear? well they are wrong and you shouldnt work at a service shop.you are suppose to bleed the line farthest away from the master cylinder first.which was said above by itr 98- rear right, then rear left, front right, then front left.
easy way to find out whats causing the problem is(car is off)-- clamp off all 4 brake hoses about 2 inches above where it enters the caliper.then try pressing the brakes,if the pedal is firm, the problem is not your master cylinder,if the pedal is soft,it is your master cylinder...after that take one clamp off at a time and test the brakes, each time you take a clamp off,the brake should be hard.if u take a clamp off and the brake gets softer, there lies your problem
if you clamp of all the hoses, and take them off and feel no differenc, move the clamps up on the hose higher, this will check for soft lines
