I'm buying a 1990 CRX Si for really cheap because it won't rev over 3500rpm. It acts like the rev limiter is coming on. It is a freshly swapped ZC motor from NIPPON bolted to a Si tranny and wired to the stock Si ECU. The ECU was giving the code for the crank angle sensor and the owner bought and installed a new one. I really want this car because it has alot of cool stuff and is in decent condition. It comes with an AEM intake, Eibach springs, KYB shocks, Thermal exhaust, Blaupunkt Cd player, a stock D16A6 motor, and lots of spare parts. AT the price I'm paying I can't turn it down, so what should I do? I'm going to try an Integra ECU to see if that makes a difference. I don't think it will but I'm gonna try it any how. Thanks for the advice in advance.

How would I be able to tell? I think the owner told me that he had the distributor tested but I could be wrong...I'll check. I've heard that Integra distributors go for like $75 at junkyards...is that true?

I think the car is worth it. because if it didn't have the ZC it wouls still have the stock Si, which I am keeping as a spare. I really don't think the problem is the engine, it seems to be in the electronics. The engine sounds pretty strong at idle and up to 3500rpm. The car has a perfect interior, good paint, and alot of little matenience things done that will save me cash later. I am going to buy the car. The worse thing is that I recently traded a complete head, with a good distributor attached, for a set of stock rims, and he already has the rims I have but may need the distributor. I'm gonna be killing myself over that for awhile.

I will be checking all the wiring..it could be possible that he reversed the wires on the crank angle sensor, which is brand new by the way. The car also comes with factory service manual along with a Helms manual. My Helms for the 86-89 Integra will be used hardcore too.

Ever try and rev your car when its cold. rev limit changes... and what controls that.
try another computer or check the tps temp sensor, ground and the distrubutor. this will sound dumb but the two blue wires if they're crosses that will happen too and throw a code 6 or 9 i think.

You sure the distributor and crank angle sensor (which is on the exhaust cam on the ZC) are even wired correctly? You have to change a few wires when going from SI->ZC.

hey! you got Chris' CRX!!! and you only paid 1400!! i hate you!!!! with 3500 rpm, it's atleast enough to cruise at 60 mph... heheheee. not like i've never thought about buying it...
put your crank on top[ dead center, and see if the cams are off , and the distributor is advanced too much. check all that and im postive it shluld work if not email me back .
HEY SEE THIS!!! READ THIS HERE!!!!! when my timing belt skipped a tooth it would only rev about that high. if you won't have any problems getting the car smogged pick it up. if you do everything we've told you here it should be running fine in no time.

HAHAHA...I KNOW THIS MESSAGE IS GOING TO SHOW UP SOON. yeah try reving your car a few times in the morning when its cold. rev it up down up down on the gas pedal about 5 times...on the 5th one....when reving it......rev it high as you can then let go. it should work.
about your code#4??crank angle sensor??try checking your wire on the ECU side. it should be B10 i believe on the SI. loose wire can cause that problem if your SI distributor is still in good condition. are you getting any other codes??

I'm already on the NOVA Rexers site, man!!! I'm Turbo Si, the one selling the Si rims and tires! See ya there.
go ahead and try the ECU from the integ....but it definatly sounds like a disributor prob to me....and check all the wiring...cause when they first but in a B!^A into my old CRX....they wired stuff wrond and the engine wouldnt even turn over!
