Default For those of you that have done a del sol seat swap into your ek

I have a 98 cx hatch and after I took the brackets apart there is a black line that connects both brackets from one end to the other. This is at the bottm of the seat, wtf is this piece and can I cut it?

It is a black line that connects the two brackets, I don't know what to do with them.

Bingo!! if you take that wire out there will be no tension on the slider. You have to shorten them a little bit or use the ones that came with the delsol seats.

Nope thats not the wire. I've looked at all the DIY"s and non of them have this BLACK wire that I have. I know the wire that releases the sliders (bronze)
I'm just wondering If I could cut this line. the black line

Is it on the passenger seat? I remember my Helms mentioning that some passenger EK coupe/hatch seats will have a wire for reclining or something. I guess so people can get in and out easier? When I installed my del Sols into my EJ8, I was all prepared to deal with it, but it wasn't there. I have a sedan, so I didn't have this wire you speak of.

I'm actually at my parent's house right now, and my Helms is at my place. I can post up on Sunday night how to remove it if nobody has told you by then. I'm trying to think back to what it said on the page about taking it out--because it does tell you--but all I remember is how to do it for the bronze slider wire. I know it wasn't difficult, though. ****, sorry man. I can picture the page, but I just picture what it says on removing it. I won't forget to post up the directions if you haven't gotten it by Sunday. I always check the "Recent Topics" thing, so that will remind me.

If you haven't gotten the wire off, here's a pic from the '96-'98 Civic Helms manual. http://home.pacbell.net/lebui/Image1.jpg Hope that helps a little. It's labeled "RECLINE CABLE," which I hope is the same wire you are (were) having problems with.
