Q form kick panels
Does any one currently use these kickpanels in their tegs?? Does it eliminate the dead pedal and if yes how is life with out it? I am wanting to build up my front sound stage but am 6'4" and comfort is a big issue as well. Any input would be appreciated.
I have a grey set from years ago that I never put in for the EG. I think they're the same for the DC2. Let me know if you want them for hella cheap.
kick panels move the speakers down low to extend the soundstage. if your into competition they are nice. if you just listen to music there is realy no point.
I've got a set in my car. I just use them for the mids, as I have compression drivers mounted under the dash.
If you build them up they sound f-ckin awesome. Mine weighed in at about 8-10 lbs each after building them up with fiberglass, resin, and a concrete hybrid (kitty litter and epoxy).
They're over 1.5"'s thick.
Here's a pic:

Here's a pic of a cross section. This piece came out of the driver's hole:

We're talking gobs of mid bass. Wanna get your stage up front? This is how you do it.

Are you using 5 1/4's or 6 1/2" components??? I want to use my 4" Infinity kappa components in the kick panel and I have a 6.5 midbass for the door that I need to make a build out ring for...
how is life without the dead pedal?

ya ive heard they are really flimsy and you need to reinforce them. that or just put 5.25" or smaller in the qforms and some mid woofers in the door...for as much as they cost plus having to reinforce them, might as well make your our kick panels

I disagree. I've made about 3 pairs of kicks, and I know fiberglass, and they've never come out looking as good as the Q-Forms.
They are flimsy as ****, and they do need to be reinforced, or they're worthless.
I'm using 5.25 vifa mids. I get more mid bass then when I had 6.75" vifa's in the doors (and my doors are deadened).
Using a woofer in the door negates the whole purpose of having kicks.
As for the dead pedal, I don't even miss it anymore. I'm also pretty tall. 6'2".
I am having staging problems with the horns, though. I'm thinking about ditching them for some conventional domes in the kicks. Just wish I could run domes down to 800hz like I do the horns...

when i was researching into purchasing qform i saw many many reviews on sounddomain in which users complained about thier lack or reinforcement and lost midbass when installled without reinforcement....sure they look better but I think custom kicks are the way to go

No ****. Did you not see the picture of a cross section from my kicks? They're thicker than anything your average installer would build.
