possibly throw out bearing going bad or mabe a bad disc with a loose spring or maybe even a bad trans bearing. would need to hear in person to know. does the sound go away after you press the clutch?

friend of mine had same problem in his nissian. we went to drop the transmission then found some how he damaged his clutch fork. replace the fork with a junkyard part and bought a new clutch set. was good after that. I heard the clutch fork can be damaged by resting your hand on the shifter while the clutch is engaged, same as resting your foot on the clutch.

Exactly, When I took my last trans apart it was all 3. If it is a clutch spring loose or broken you will mostly hear it when you change gears. The throw out is just a steady noise when the clutch pedal is up, its a metal on metal type sound but not whinny, hard to explain. If its a trans bearing (which are complete **** i might add, if you ever look at one they are plastic in the inside) it will sound like a chugging sound like a train. Try and explain the nosie better and we can help you out. Also a trans from what car? if its a sohc and you have FI get used to changing it out alot.

but good thing the sohc trannies are cheap, compared to the b-series at 500+ and still may have grinding probs.

its an 94 ex tranny, the clutch has had a throw out bearing problem , the squeek when my foot is not on the clutch....

i noticed it when i was sitting at a stop light with my radio turn off and my car sounded louder than normal...

it kinda sounds like theres something loose inside the tranny/ clutch area....

hey bud i had the same situation too...in this case check your transmission fluid and try flushing it if it doesn't help man u need a new tranny fo show! i blew my tranny that way....i heard the noise from the inside and even when i pop my hood...its is not the bearing from what i think it could be that your tranny is gone bad......

In my brothers race car he heard a clunking noise it turned out that the pressure plate or it might have been something with the one of the springs, but it came apart. He sent it back to centerforce and the remade the part and sent it back to him. Sorry I can't really help any more unless I heard the noise or dropped the transmission.

I had the same symptoms and mine turned out to be the input shaft bearing.
