"The new Street Stock class will feature the same rules as the SPORT FWD class currently staged at NHRA Summit Sport Compact Series events, but with no power adders, and all cars must be registered, street legal, have full interiors and run on DOT radial street tires. In the works is a year-end bounty to be established for the fastest E.T. and the quickest cars for the entire year." -NHRAsportcompact.com

finally a class for all motor street cars. too bad they can't run slicks. i can't imagine the people at NHRA thinking.......oohhh, street cars with no poweradders and no slicks. yeah, thats gonna be a great class.
depending on tire size, weight, and exhaust restrictions, we should see cars run mid to high 11's in this class.

Good class
... Limitations w/ the tires, making it fair for everyone... I honestly think this class is going to be very competative and needs the driving skills to win! Basically this class is for all those all-motor cars that can drive themselves to the track and drive it back home.

I wonder if you can run a race rim as well??? Like say a 10lb road race aluminum rim with bfg's....or something along those lines. Sounds like a nice class either way. Gonna have to look at the spfwd rules.
The turnout will be better if they allow slicks. The 3 IDRC events I attended out here have had more racers in the class that allowed slicks versus the street tire class.
to NHRA for creating an all motor street class. It should be very popular. If enough people really want to run slicks, let NHRA know. Remember, SportFWD was originally supposed to be a DOT tire class too. Tyler
Im sure NHRA will allow slicks if you guys bug them enough, I believe if SFWD is allowed slicks (keep in mind what tyler said), then this class should be able to run slicks......
I also beleive it should have the same exhaust rule (as does SFWD) i think mirroring the classes will be a good constant, which is something nhra always likes

Hmmmm, sounds good, but food for thought... at the 3 or so IDRC events I attended the True Street ended up running with ProAm to get a full field and better payout. I didn't mind it, but the first time it happened I was caught off guard and didn't have the slicks and skinnies on me to at least make a decent attempt at first round ProAm. The last event I went to I just showed up with the car set up to run ProAM because I new the True Street was going to be a wash.
I don't mind running the full exhaust really... but I think they need to step back and "really" look at what the typical average import "street" drag racer is doing. Everyone that is semi serious about it swaps out to different wheel and tire combo, especially the drive wheels. I honestly feel that you should be allowed to run on slicks and any wheel combo.
As far as the interior goes there are tons of people out there racing with the back 1/2 off the interior out all over the place. All most every damn all motor car out there has to rely on some sort of major weight reduction. I can kind of understand the interior idea when boost is involved just out of the pure fact that companies are producing some sick boosted cars right off the showroom floor these day. All motor is a totally different story... you need power to weight and you need to hook, that is it. So why do they have to go ahead and take the 2 key factors away.
I think NHRA should just rip off IDRC ProAM rules/regs for a street class and be done with it.

i think if slicks are allowed you will have the same mid-low 11 second cars winning every event and it will discourage the everyday racers from coming out...I like the idea of the pure street classes, i know for one i don't have the time or budget to take the step to the next level but still enjoy the competition aspect that really can't be found in brackets.
I was sitting and thinking maybe NHRA is thinking out side of the box and is not targetting the allmotor street cars that run today. Maybe targetting a new crowed that are running on the streets so they dont have the few cars that run there *** off and scare everyone else away. This way no matter what track they are at they should have a bunch of cars in this class. Drive in have fun and drive home and be able to do so in a heads up class not brackets .
to nhra for tring something new and tring to breed new racers

the thing with idrc is, they know what ppl want, but they get too far ahead of themselves.
there arent going to be enough cars to fill the classes they have setup, maybe if it was like domestics where some are sent packin because they didnt qualify...but we can barely fill a 8 car field.
unfortunately they are ahead of their time, atleast thats how i see it....seperating the REAL street cars from the "street" cars if ya know what i mean

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.
Well, this all sounds good to me because other than brackets there was nothing to run my car in at NHRA events so I stopped going. I will give this class a chance, I just hope they don't pull that 4cyl vs. 6cyl weight restriction BS... everyone out there knows that 80% of the 4cyl cars will take a 6 banger out in a heartbeat.

I could not have said it better myself!!! I personally know guys who are shop bitches and spend all of their time kissing the shop owners *** so that the shop owner wont charge them as much as the rest of the people. So they are at an advantage!!

im just happy that this class has finally been created its been a long time coming. javier explained his plan/vision of what this class should be and its not a bad idea. no slicks arent that bad (although i do hope they change their minds), i can even live with the full interior and exhaust. the only thing that is a slight concern is the weight. 2300 for 4cyls and 2500 for 5 and 6 cyls (those are the minimum sfwd weights which i assume they will follow). im a big guy and i drove a crx (not mine) that fit the rules for this class except for weighing just over 2200 lbs. there are hatches in that form that will be under that weight. in any case thats only thing i was really wondering about. i hope we can get some clarification on the rules soon but either way im happy they made the class and i hope to be out there next season competing in it.

Cool, now theres a class I can run in. I cant afford to go to alot of events and I have always liked to go to the Nhra stuff, now I can go to the events I want and even race in some of them. I just need some cargo area plastic.
Edit
Just noticed the weight thing too.. that might be a problem..

i'm sure weight will eventually be lowered 100 lbs. take a sportfwd car and remove all turbo related parts and you've removed probably 75 lbs. thats what they should be looking at as far as weights. 2200 minimum for hondas.
