Electrical Problems w/ 90 accord
hey guys, i'm new to this forum but was wondering if you can help me out.
i'm having electrical problems with my accord right now. the most recent issue is the charging system light went on. other problems besides that is the car 'quivers' if i hit anything electrical when car is idling (ie raise the windows), the wipers are working real slow as are the windows and the A/C went out over the summer.
i'm thinking that the alternator is going but i just replaced it 3 years ago. the tension on the belts seem fine. the only thing is i'm having problems figuring out how to remove the alternator so i can take it to get rebuilt. i can get to the first bolt but i can't even see the second. i was trying to do this without having to remove the A/C compressor that sits above it.
any advice/pointers?? has anyone done an alternator pull that can show me the way to do it. i'm not worried about getting the alternator out because i'll figure it out if i actually spend some time on it but putting the new one back in. never had to deal with removing and replacing belts before. is there a trick to that?
any help would be appreciated. thanks.

AC compressor is below the alternator. The power steering pump is above it. I remove the PS pump and pull to one side to gain access to remove the alternator.
If you have cruise control it helps to release it and set on top of the engine. Be sure and disconnect battery before attempting to disconnect alternator wiring.
I had my alternator rebuilt by a local alternator shop w/ new brushes, rectifier, and regulator. Cost is substantially more than an AZ rebuilt alternator, but AZ alternators are notoriously unreliable. I would install a used alternator before using an AZ replacement.
good luck

They have test equipment and they test for free. Just have them spin it for you and let you know. If not then take it to a local electric rebuild shop and they will tell you for a small fee.

hey, it's me again. i ran into a obstacle while removing the alt. i moved the power steering comp to the side and was able to remove the top bolt for the alt but i cant get to the second one. there appears to be a bracket at the base of the alt with 3 bolts going into it, 2 from the front and 1 from the side. how would i go about getting the alt out from this point?
Remove the front single one. Believe it to be a 13mm or 14mm, I forget which is which.
Then it sould come right out, if not then remove the right 10mm bolt from the adjuster bracket. Then the bracket will pull off, rare that it stops it from removal if you remove the timing cover side bolt. As the only two that hold it in are the long bolt on top and then the short over sized 13mm one under the pully.
