Default Valve Cover Modifying / Sandblasting

Has anyone attempted to sandblast / beadblast their OEM valve covers? (Mine is a GSR) Any comments on the outcome?
I know i can send my VC out to Airborn and they'll strip and coat it in whatever color i like, but i think i'd rather just take it down to aluminum and then leave it / polish it. Has anyone done this? Polishing or Chrome Plating?

I know plenty of people that have polished valve covers. A little bit too bling for me, but good for show

I sand blasted a valve cover I had. Only to discover the H logo on the bottom wasnt level. I was going to have it poweder coated, but was worried about hitting the letters with a wire wheel, missing and getting the paint. Bead blasting is def the way top go

Hmm... sounds like fun... I'll at least try it before spending $70 to get it colored. - Here's another question, after taking the paint off, what paint should i use to color it? Most likely that DuPont paint that people use to paint wheels right? -Anyone try this? - I think i'll try to paint it first, and if it doesn't work i'll get it "bling-ified"

A plain, flat finish (not powdercoated) - Maybe dark blue

My friend sandblasted his ls valvecover and used a parts cleaner to get the whole thing nice and clean. Then I believed he just spray painted it and added some sealer or something. He then used a perma marker to color the honda sign. It actually came out looking extremely good. I'll see if I can get some pics

if you sandblast make sure you clean it out... I have one here that was sandblasted and there's sand left over in every possible place... on the friggin inside... I can't see everything on the inside because of the plate that's mounted in there, so I never used it...

so if you're DIY-in it... get some decent paint stripper and do it the easy way...
