Default CAI Problem (F22)

Ok so after buying this new cai, I find that the pipe is like 4 inches too short! I had to cut it in half to see how much more pipe I would need

I need to know what would be the best way to bridge this gap?
I was thinking another piece of silicon, but I wanted to ask here first...

Also, how big should I make the hole in my fender?

I have another 6-8" piece of pipe that can attach to the end to follow through the fender......so I think the hole doesn't need to be as big as the filter.

EDIT:
well I made some progress. I bought some reinforced PVC Tubing and PVC couplers.

I need to jigsaw out the fender and replace the blue silicon with another black coupler (they fit tighter with the 2 clamps)

Try using another blue rubber thing to gap or duck tape..
And cut the hole... as big as the pipe or abit bigger

Well now you can not have the company give you the right size one.

As for the whole make it 1/4 inch larger and line it with rubber. Use some rubber hose, cut in half and line the whole with it so that it wont cut up pipe and so that you wont rattle so much.

Seeing as you cut it where it holds the fermness, now it will move around.

And I think you cap would look better like this one:

Also find an old Radiator hose and make part to protect your hose under pipe. That way not have a huge hole in it from rubbing.

Oh and after blowing up pic some replace your rubber O-ring gasket on that distrib. that is why your thermostat housing is all wet with oil. See I have the same issue! But only had mine for (on road 3 months, in rebuild 1 month, bought it 4 months ago)

And do that Valve Cover gasket. Its only $12 and takes about 1/2 hr to do.

and with the blow by on the air tubes, I would be looking at the valve seals and rechecking the valves. Might be time to adjust them.

Looks like you got a car with about as many issues as the one I am building up. Doing a 91 Accord, like below for pics.

I dont think that you got a cai. I got a short ram on my car and it looks just like yours without the chunk missing. I had an Injen cai intak and it was longer. The pipe actually went down into the hole in the fender. I recomend getting another silicone boot, like your blue one, reconnecting the pipe that you have, use the extra piping that you have on the side and stick on the the end of the pipe that goes into the fender. That way, when it rains, you can take off the extension and put the filter on teh short ram. By the way, make sure that you have your fender well cover in because your motor will lock up if any water gets into it, it happened to me. Another thing, may cai piping was 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inches wide. My short ram is 3 inch. I got the same amount of power out of both but i trust the short ram more.

Yup...what you have isn't a CAI which would explain the shortness in length. You cut it for nothing.

Yeah, that isn't a CAI...Why did you cut it for? It looked like it fit pretty well.

It didnt fit at all without cutting it....It ran right into the battery, plus I had NO room for the filter! I dunno how you all figure it woulda fit. I cut it so it would run flush with the fender, without the cut it was sticking out like 4 inches from the fender.

If that was the case that fit was an issue, then it was not made for your car. Again you got the wrong one for your car. Now that you cut it you will not be able to return it for the right one.
But then again you might have bought it from ESAY and then there is not return with 90% of the people there.

Good luck

You probably got one for a CRX or something. I think the CRX intakes look similar but are just shorter. You should have never cut it and returned it if you could have.

Also, in the first pic, anyone know what seal might need replacing? Oil is all over the distributor

I wouldn't stick with the "reinforced PVC pipe" set up.

Looks like you actually got a short ram for a 5th gen accord.

If oil is on the back and bottom of your distributor, try replacing the O-ring that is on the distributor shaft. It's like a $2 part at Honda. Not hard at all to replace.

Unplug the wires leading to the distributor and unplug the spark plug wires from the cap. Then remove the three bolts that hold the distributor to the head and pull the distributor away from the head. You'll see a black ring thats probably hard and will need to be pried off the shaft. Once you pull it off, slip the new one on and put some oil on it. Then just put everything back together in reverse order. When you go to put the shaft of the distributor back into the head, the key on it is offset from center so it will only go into the camshaft one way so you won't mess up the timing.
