I hope this is the right forum for this kind of thing. I mainly just use the honda-tech search function, so I'm still kind of a nooB. If it's wrong, my bad.


So here's the deal. About a month ago, I bought a friend's (Owen the soyboy on here) ITR tranny with a 4.9 final drive.

Before the new tranny, I had a stock 95 LS engine with stock LS tranny, stock LS flywheel, and oem, slipping clutch. Car ran a 14.90 @ ~93mph as the set up was.

Anyway, I installed the new tranny over this past weekend, along with a clutchmasters 8lb flywheel, and an Exedy oem replacement clutch. The difference is sooooooooOOOOOOOoooooooooo huge as far as how much fun the car is to drive!

So I made a comparison video of some pulls before and after the new tranny to compare how gearing affects the acceleration, etc.

Unfortunately, now that I have a strong set up, my shitto all seasons aren't going to cut it, so wheel hop owned. Oh well.

And don't make fun of my granny shifting y0! I had a camera in my face, and a friend hanging over my shifter all akward like.

You'll notice that some main differences between the two is A) the 4.9 tranny revs A LOT faster. B) the 4.9 tranny's rpm's fall far less after each shift. C) shifting and traction are crucial with the 4.9 tranny.

You have a stock LS motor with 4.9 final on ITR tranny? How's the drive on the freeway with your redline being right around the corner?

At 65mph, the rpms hang around 4100.

Redline is 7100. I guess having a good tranny is maaad waack without the vtec y0!?

Yes, I need a short throw for the EG. No, under normal circumstances I don't drive like that.... I tried to explain that. I never said I was god's gift at driving.
