Default Illumina's on DA question...

i got s-tech's and illumina's on my 91 and i have a dent in the rear driver fender thats not really bad but it makes my tire (204/40/17) rub when i go over bumps or dip's. also whats not really helping is the 50lb+ bandpass box with two 12"'s in the rear.

but i have my front's and rear set on 3. if i keep the front 3 and rear to 4 or 5.. what will that give me, oversteer or understeer. (i always get confused on the 2)

also what application's would give me oversteer and understeer? (ie, rain, snow, dry, hard cornering, soft cornering, accelerating through a corner, etc..)

im thinking to have it stiffer in the back so i dont rub.. maybe that'll help. and i know you might say "stiffer spring rates" but i dont have money for that now.

TIA

Don't know much else to say but to try out smaller rims. 17's are pretty hard to get to fit without rubbing.

thats the thing, i dont have any money to do a massave purchase like that. i dont rub on the other 3 corners, just on that one cuz it dented some of the fender in so i only rub when i do right turns (car leaning to the left). but the opposite side doesnt rub at all when i do the opposite turns.

bump..comeone guys, i know some of you know the answer to this

Stiffer rear will give you more oversteer. But with the shocks, it won't be as noticeable as running higher spring rates in the rear. The S-Tech cprings are a little on the soft side for the DA.

Hmm, well if you're rubbing and you're hitting the actual spot that's dented in then take off your wheel, and take a hammer to the dent for a temporary fix.

yea, id say try rolling your fender out, or getting a sheet metal hammer and banging it out

Spring rate is going to determine over/under steer characteristics much more than dampening rates...With springs as soft as the s-tech you're not going to get oversteer no matter what you do to the shocks.

in all honest opinion, get some stock rims, or bring your car to a body shop have them fix the rear quarter and roll your fenders while there at it

well thats the thing. like i've said.. i dont have money to do stuff like that. i have stock 14's.. but the thing is my car is so low with them on, my exhaust in the middle of the car scrapes the floor.

but i think i might do the hammer trick.. and for sures, im going to put the fronts on 2 and the rears on 5.. will that hurt any steering/handling or no?

well the ride is a bit more bouncy now. i never would of thought it would of made it that bouncy considering i just stiffend up the rear's to 5 and left the fronts on 3.
but it did help some what.. but i still rub sometimes

i think just for comforts sake, ima throw the rears on 4 and the fronts on 2..
