This really isnt a good question at all.

Theres an advantage to everything and disadvantage. You have to actually compare 2 things.

there isnt really any disadvantages. you get good power at a decent cost. what specifically are you looking for?

The USDM ones don't make power?

I've always seen better numbers out of JDM GSR's than USDM ones.

Hmmm depends if your going to turbo a DOHC VTEC motor the GSR is a good one to do. But if you compare it to the ITR the ITR is a better deal.

GSR has a lower compression ratio, funky *** IM, and No LSD its also down on power.

for about 1500 to 1700 more for an ITR motor you get. More HP stock, better geared tranny, stock LSD, Great flowing IM.

now if you were try to make up the difference in power from the ITR to the GSR it would cost you alot more then the price of the ITR.

umm, you SHOULD see better numbers, considering Jspec motors have higher C/R...

but totalled integra GSR's are all over the place, with perfectly running engines. its more likely to stumble onto a USDM motor than a JDM. at least for me it was.

ive have both a JDM 2nd gen b16a and now a b18c1. the difference between the two is NIGHT and DAY. honestly. vtec hits in a LOT harder with the gsr, and the low end torque is great for city driving. with the b16 i had to get it up to 5000++RPMs to pass soccer moms.

i like the gsr engine. Its a compromise engine, tho, some top end hp potential is sacrificed in lieu of maintain low/mid power.

Its a good daily driver swap for a nice light civic. decent gearing, plenty of low end grunt, but also having a respectable top end to set it apart from a non vtec 1.8.

Plenty of oportunity for modding it too, down the road. But if your into that, i suggest you look at the ITR engine before you decide. It costs 50% more, but you can easily spend that difference trying to match it with a gsr.

Oh? So you're having some big losses in the torque curve below 4400 RPM? You should really have that sorted out.

The only disadvantage I had was buying premium fuel and wondering when my car would get stolen.
