Default My Ingalls camber kit install *pics*

This is what happens when you are lowered 2.25". And here is my solution...

I ran into a problem with the Upper Control Arm, but I was able to re-adjust the camber kit and it fixed the problem.

I got an alignment done later that day and my camber was within spec.

Both. They are powdercoated in Graphite color and they are dirty with lots of brake dust.

QUESTION:

how long after your tire gets to that stage with the metal wiring, will the tire last? like if it just start's showing signs of that wear

Nice... I love those rims, I'm still on the lookout for a set in decent condition. I guess I've just been the lucky one w/ my da, I had it lowered for a couple of months and for some reason there was no uneven tire wear. Now it's back up again, but I think I'm gonna get a camber kit before dropping it again.

Nice pics, but unfortunately I don't think your solution was really necessary. A set of tires and an alignment would have done you just fine. I've been lowered 3"+ for well over 70K miles and have only gone through 2 sets of tires in that time, no camber kit. I first lowered my car w/ about 15K miles on the tires I had at the time, then went another 25K before the tires even began to show a little spot of belt. The next set (ES100's) lasted my 35K miles before it showed a tiny spot of belt.

I would NEVER let tires get that bad, and needless to say your toe-in was no doubt horribly out-of-spec. I hope the shop adjusted the toe in addition to checking and/or adjusting your camber, otherwise you'll be having the same problems all over again.

I had an alignment done when the car was first lowered (I'm using Skunk2 race springs). The shop told me my camber was off and that they couldn't adjust it. So I left it at that. Then after a while I start noticing my inner tire is getting worn pretty bad. So that's when I decided to get the camber kit. After the installation of the camber kit, the instructions say that the toe will probably be off. So I took the car to the alignment shop the same day and they adjusted the toe back in spec. The camber didn't need to be adjusted because it was in spec from the ingalls kit.

To the other people who commented about Kumho tires, I think they are decent for the price. I paid $30 for each tire. I wouldn't use these tires to drag race or auto-x but they are decent for daily driving.

There are two kinds of bushings you can get with the Ingalls kit, polyurethane or rubber. Polyurethane needs to be lubricated or else it will squeak. The rubber bushings don't squeak.

Maybe you should go to another shop.

If your toe was set you would not have that big of a problem with such uneven ware.

The camber kit does not automatically fix your camber and needs to be adjusted properly. Go to another shop....

I adjusted the camber myself.

I went to a normal shop when I first got my alignment done.

Then after the camber kit, I went to a different shop to get my alignment done. They have state of the art alignment machine. Here is a pic of it..

Sounds to me like they didn't get the toe adjusted correctly. Do you have a printout from after that first alignment?

Once you see the metal you should really get new tires ASAP cause behind that metal there is only like 1mm of rubber holding the are in.

I didn't get a printout from the first alignment, but I did get a printout from the 2nd alignment (different shop). In the first alignment, toe was adjusted but they could not adjust camber.

$75 each, from a friend that does powdercoating before he moved to Texas.

I have a friend that works for a shop that distributes tires. These tires were bought by someone and then returned and then was supposed to be shipped back to another distribution warehouse.. it's a long story. So my friend hooked me up with a discount price.

If toe and thrust angle were indeed adjusted correctly, there is absolutely no reason for that tire wear you showed, unless it happened after like 40K-50K miles, and you never rotated your tires or something. How long was it between your first alignment and that pic you posted above?
