What is the difference? What mods are? and What mods are not? Why?

 

Rice = any lights that resemble altezza's, any body kit that makes your car look like a hovercraft, any acsessory that make you car glow (especially indi-glow crap), any bolt-on that do not do anything, blingers, any wheel above 17" that you roll on whether or not your at a show, any triple decker or double decker wing (painted OR non-painted) that looks like something from The Fast and Furious, any type of non fuctional air flow port on the body, decals/stickers, shoulder pads, etc...

Basically everything you see and can purchase at your local performance shop. Bless their little hearts for selling garbage to the ignorant!!!

Nitrous and or Turbo Kits Installed for show points can be rice...
Trailer queens are RICE.
Snow Shovel front ends are RICE.
Yellow and Green paintjobs are RICE.
"Custom Japanese Symbols" are RICE.
Non-Subtle Stickering is RICE.
Roof Wings that are higher than the roof of HB's are RICE. <This does not include Tasteful Duckbills>

My most hated ricey item at this time is the glowing windshield washer squirters... What a piece of bullshit!

 

anything that lacks any type of related or realistic function to your daily drivien FWD car.....things to look for...
stickers
big wings
any rim BIGGER than 16" is worthless on a civic or teg - overkill
aerokits that have no real aerodynamic purpose - most - most kits actually make more wind resistance and air pockets, so you think youre fast looking but youre really slower..
chrome
excess of fog lights, neon, indiglo, lights in strange places like on rims, window squirts.......etc.
tv's, big amps, big boxes, big speakers....too much bass make your nuts and bolts loose....make rattles and squeeks
funky paint colors and interior re-upulstry
stickers - graphics splashes
there is always more but i get a headache thinking about it

NOT RICEY!!!!
Use of anything that serves a realistic function and or purpose. remaining as simple as possible to save weight and retain full use weather on the street or track
least concern being ASSthetic value......

Ricey: Stickers, Extreme Body Kits, 5 inch+ Tailpipes, Altezzas(although the new ones for the CRX look nice, I would like some of the CF ones), 17+ wheels, Chrome & wire wheels, tire tint, 30%+ window tint, Them ugly huge Autometer tachs(with shift light), Chain steering wheels(I have seen one on a Civic), Skateboarding your car, Racing stripes on imports, and I cant think of much more than that.

THE ONLY non rice blue and yellow car I can think of is the Rally WRX STi

Why do you say that Sholder pads are Rice? I slammed on my brakes in mr CRX and skidded to a hard stop. My passenger got a really bad bruised colar bone and I didnt get anything. She was not wearing a pad because she said it was uncomfortable. I just didnt care and I am fine.

I must be a old ricey guy, I like clear tail lights and wild paint jobs. What is the different of crazy flames on a hotrod and wild colors on imports? Mods are Mods they give each car it's own personilty. I not into loud sound systems are muffer tips I can stick my foot in. But I do like and thing that can bring alot of guys and girl together to talk about cars and trucks. I have a Modded and very lifted 5.9 Grand Cherokee. I have just started on a 89 CRX Si to use for autocross and street. Becasue I run in stock class I cann't do but so much to it. I'm looking a changing the lights to altezz's and clear, a checked flag graphic I designed,(in silver the cars black), cat back exhaust, Koni shocks, and a few other thing. nNot much for now. I just keep read about altezz's are ricey and that is ricey and your car is ricey. I just know what I like and I can apprecate what others have done to thier rides. (Time and Money) Ricey or Not!! I donn't have to want to do it to my car, but it worked for him!! I mod to my taste not others.

But see, that is still just your opinion. The term rice is nothing physical. It is all just one persons opinion of another persons work. Sure the majority of people may not like it. It may be cheap, and even tacky. But it is all just your opinion on something.

i guess when we say "rice" or "jdm" or "clean" that thos are just styles,mainly based on income.so when we say rice and its ireffering to body kits and gt touring wings its your style and its not really a bad thing but it just ricey...so its just a classification.
