Is there anyway to paint a tan floor mat black to match the carpet?

i don't think so. you'll probably be better off just buying black floormats. or you can get lucky and trade somebody.

The reason I can't buy new ones is because I have two tan floor mats from a Ferrari that my dad picked up when he went to Houston. I was pretty happy when he gave them to me!

Yes the can be painted there is special carpet paint that you can use. Or you can just spray paint them.

 

Search Google for "carpet dye" and you'll turn up many results.

Ok I did a little research into carpet dying and I found a company called Recon that sells products for DIYers.

Anyone have any experience with something like this? I'm just concerned about how long the new color would last.

 

Back when i had carpet in my car it was starting to fade, i just spray painted it with like wal mart rattle paint and it came out fine. I have also used this technic on another civic and have had no problems. Plus it only cost like 1.50.

kinda contradicting yourself eh? but ya u can just dye it, but i dont see y you would. just go to kragens or pepboys and get black ones for like $20 thats what i did

 

You can purchase carpet dyes (paint??) and it will work...

 

Good luck dying synthetic carpet ... Sounds like a big mess...try paint

You dye fabrics.

 

wow this thread is amazing..... just friggin pick up some good quality Fabric SPray...... it comes in a can, and is easy to do. Dying can work as well, but why go through the hastle.

 

I tried using fabric spary, as well as dying to get my old grey floormats to be black to match my EP3 seats.

Fabric Spray: The carpet became like a hard acrylic texture, making it uncomfortable. It also turned brown after a while. I follwed the directions exactly and used about 5 coats. It just didn't look right.

Dying: I used RIT dye, which you can get at any CVS or Walgreens or whatever. It took hours, was a huge pain in the ***, it was messy, and it turned my floormats purple.

You're best bet is to go buy new ones. They're only 50 bucks man...and then they're brand new.

 

They're authentic Ferrari Floor mats. I can't screw it up!

you can buy fabric and uphousltery spray paint at AutoZone, Advance Auto, works pretty good actually....i painted some carpets black, looks good

Why the hell would you put Ferrari floormats in your Honda?

Sell those and buy some Honda/Acura floormats. Keeping them as a relic is one thing...but c'mon, they're floormats. Someone's feet were on them.

 

hell i think your retarded man! if it says ferrari on them, sell them hoes on ebay! you should get atleast 100$ for them! and then spend 1/4 of that cash on some honda floor mats!
