Default Need help RE: emissions testing

hey all

my 00 GSR is up for emissions and i need help passing it. here's my setup:

b18c1 with jdm itr 4-1 header, carsound cat, and itr bpipe with bottleneck removed. ever since i had the carsound cat installed, i've been throwing a CEL - o2 sensor above threshold. now i need to get it tested and i am wondering what i can do to remedy this (assuming the o2 sensor is still working). should i buy a stock cat and use that, and if so what type should i get? the carsound was lengthened to the proper length so i dont know what stock cat will work.

thanks!

Are you using two o2 sensors on your carsound cat?

shitttttt bump all dat yo just get yourself some coilovers drop dat baby down to a tire tuck and you wont have to worry bout dat because it would be to low to get over the rollers and they will just write you a two year waiver. Thats just how i got away with it, just keep doin that and you should be fine. they took one look at my car and said it was too low so wrote me a two year waiver, so i dont have to go back till 06 and im just goin to do the same thing again and again.

Even if his car was too low, the shop could still hook their machine to his diagnostic port and see his CEL which = fail.

Does your CEL come back on IMMEDIATLy after you clear the codes? If not i would clear the codes and drive it down there and then you should have enough monitors run to pass.

Also you can ask the inspector to override the OBDII by not plugging it into the machine and when the machine cant get a reading from your car (cause its not pluggd in) it will auto default to dyno run.

And with your setup you should be able to pass a dyno run no problem. the thing is your OBDII system will throw the code if your emmissions is 2X the allowed amount. But the numbers the EPA gives the inspectors is 10X the normal amount.

If you have any more questions just hit me up Im an inspector :-) My laws might be different from your though.

Are you throwing a code for the primary or secondary oxygen sensor?

Take it to somebody who can read the long term fuel trim (LTFT) from the OBD-2 port. I think "above threshold" means that it the long term trim is maxxed out with respect to how much more fuel it can add and can no longer compensate for a closed-loop lean condition.

You may have to use an AFC and/or fuel pressure return regulator to get the trim back to within +/-5% on the LTFT.

It may also be the opposite and too rich for it to compensate. Whatever it is, the OBD-2 scanner can tell you.
