Default winter beater wont fire up

ok guys my 1990 ls turns over but wont fire up. I thought it was the coil cause one of my friends put a screwdriver in at the end of the plugwire and told me to turn the car on. There was no spark cuming out, so we both assume it was the coil. I bought a new coil for it, replace it. but still the same promblem the car turns over but dosnt fire over. there is gas in the car and wires and sparkplug is good and rotor. so can any1 give me an ideal what to do next????

Got battery voltage at the black/yellow wires at the distributor?

Throwing any CEL? Read the codes...

change the ignitor thats your problem but first check to see if you have power to the coil

What's it look like inside the distributor? Any red dust? You could measure resistance of the rotor & wires, but I'm not sure what they're supposed to be for '90...
