throttle body removal..tps setting instructions needed
i have to change my tps and i found this http://www.integra.orcon.net.nz/tps. is this information correct? when i remove the tb can i still check the tps wires for the correct voltage or does it need to be on the car for it to work. do i need to replace the gasket if i'm only taking it off for the sensor?? if anyone has dealt with this or can give me simple instructions it'd be appreciated. also how long does this take to do. can it be pumped out in a half hour or am i gonna need to plan it. yeah i'm not really too knowledgeable with the workings of an engine, but i figure i start somewhere and i dont want a shop doing what i can. not for the money issue, for the experience. thanks all
The TPS will work just the same off the car. You can reuse the gasket if it comes off in one piece, which it probably won't. Have another one on hand. Count on a little longer than half an hour if you've never done it before. Not hard though.
Honda, or my gasket maker. I posted this in your other topic
Unless the tps has already been removed, it will be held on by rivets. So remove the tb but before you go threw all this, go to the store and by some longer screws that will hold the tps on. Also by 2 nuts that will thread onto these longer screws. Cut off the top of the screw, and screw them into the tb, then put the nuts on. This way it will be easier to adjust the tps next time you have to. Also the old rivets will need to be notched so a screw driver can fit in there, use a hack saw or a dremel.
