91 dx auto tranny smaller then 91 Ex auto tranny?
well i went to bolt up my 91 dx(1.5L motor!!!!!) tranny to the 99 dx motor(1.6L)
and it was a no go. the damn torque convertor(automatic, duh
)
is TO BLOODY BIG by 1 inch total diameter. DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF!
the bell housing(i guess thats what its called) is a tiny bit bigger(on the inside) of the 99 tranny compared to the 91..everything else is pretty much the same bolt holes wise.
So is the 91 EX auto actually the same size as the 99 dx OR is it the same size as the 91 dx using the smaller flywheel and torque convertor?
i really hoped i could use the new one since the old one is a bit "jumpy" during shifts but I may have to swap the flywheel and torque converter over.
OR I could pick up a 91 ex auto tranny OR 91 Si auto tranny WHICH CANADA HAS..
however i am unsure of the actual size of them..if they are the same then it makes more sense to just swap the flywheel and tc over.
any thoughts?
thanks..
what a pain

thats not an issue...i knwo it will fit.
i want to know if itll work with a 99 torque converter WHICH IS BIGGER THEN THE 91 dx 1.5 liter motors torque converter.
if its the same size (inner diameter of the bell housing)..then there is no point in me getting another tranny.ill just use the 1.5L flywheel and tc.
but if is infact bigger(the ex/si auto tranny) then i would prefer to use it since i want to use the newer tc instead of the old one which acts funky.

If you are getting interference with the TC then use the 91 tc.
Maybe measure them and stuff... should be easy, no?

thats what i am planning to do however i know the 91 tranny and tc combo didnt shift so great and I was hoping to use the 99 tc since its newer.
the circumfrence of the 99 tc was 35 inches while the 91 was 34 inches around.
the 91 tranny cant fit the 99 tc .
so it looks like the easiest thing to do is use the old one
id still like to know if the ex/si auto tranny is the same size as the 91 dx or is like the 99 dx.
