I think he's right. So If it comes on around 10 gallons, you got a good 3 gallons to go!

My light doesnt come on at all on my DA9.
But I know I definately get 340 miles per full tank, so I know when it comes down to the last 50-60 miles

wow..this is good to know. ive never ran out of gas while the car has been on, but ive had it not start after driving 25+ miles with the light on
if you still have the factory manual it will probably say in there. i know my owner's manual for my CRX says that there is like 1.1 gallons when it is on E.
I have routinely driven OVER 100 miles once the light has turned on. First 30 miles or so, it'll go in and out depending on which way you're turning. After that, it stays on solid for 70 miles or so.
Never ran out. Just put more gas in later.
FYI: My parent's 2001 Civic DX now is the same way. The newer Honda's seem to have "smarter" gas lights. They come on and stay on. I have also gone over 100 miles with the light on. The needle will be 2-3mm below the last Empty line too.
The one rental car I had (2004 Hyundai Elantra)....the gas light came on and I got stuck literally about 8-10 miles later.
Had to walk a few miles to get gas and bring it back.

thats sweet, wish i got that kind of mileage
, must not be boosted, if i tried to get that out of a tank i would mos def be stuck on the side of the road somewhere. i only get about 230, with a little "spirited" driving here and there.

one time when the light started blinking i got 60mi, which is too much imo, not good for the car. never again. i couldnt tell when the light actually stayed on because i was turning the car off and on a lot, bad also for gas. but i know for sure once the light stays on you get at least 35mi.
btw, whats the mileage on a 01 auto supposed to be anyway??
