Aftermarket lugs on stock steelies
Beside the fact that they will stand out like a sore thumb, does it matter to use aftermarket lugs on my new steelies for winter? some one said they wont set right.
If you mean lug nuts, then it can make a difference. If you put tapered lug nuts on your stock wheels that have an acorn seat, the lugs will loosen and you will hate life. If the lug nuts you have are also acorn style and the same size, they should be ok. Need more info to say for sure.
The nut's actual seating surface that fits against the wheel is either spherical ("acorn"), or conical, or flat. Make sure it's the right kind to match the wheel. Steelies & Honda factory aluminum rims take spherical-seat nuts.
Some aftermarket alloy wheels take tapered (conical) nuts.
Some aftermarket wheels take flat nuts.
If you use the wrong kind that don't match the wheels, they mash the part of the wheel where they touch, & they might work themselves loose.
