Default Changing interior color?

I have a 93 civic ex. It is black and the interior is tan/brown. This interior is possibly the ugliest interior ever. I was going to recolor the interior and i am sorting out my options.

I want to do it in blakc, and i know the black interior would be the best way to go, but for 1/25th the price I can just apint the interior with the vinyl paints and stuff.

My question is will the vinyl paint stick? Dash, pillars and rear deck carpet are my largest concerns. I will be getting new seats and rear seats. So what do you think:

if it does't come out perfect, its gonna bug you until you spend the money on the OEM interior anyways.. I dunno if I'd risk it.

go with OEM you will be so much happier in the end.

even if you have to do it part by part as you find them in the junkyards or something definately go with OEM

I changed the color of my interior once when I was first starting out in the scene. The best recc I can give is to lightly take a fine grain sandpaper and scuff the pieces up. Just a little though , you don't want to make any marks. All the pieces on the interior of your car believe it or not actually have a little clearcoat on them and if you don't do this they will look like ****. Then you have to buy a certain kind of primer . I think I used bulldog . Its a clear primer that forms a chemical bond between the plastic and the paint. It'll look good for quite a while but eventually your gonna remember.....it's just paint. And your car is gonna wreak like paint for a while. But good luck on it though, hope I could help a bit.

Oh yeah as well, if you live downsouth your gonna want to use a higher temp paint on the dash because you know how hot it can get!!!

i wouldn't do the paint...it says vinyl paint or interior dye, but essentailly it's spray paint, and it's gonna chip all the time if something bumps it.
If you don't touch it, it would be ok.
I had done that, but stipped everything after a year, and mixed REAL Honda paint, and sprayed it with a paint gun and compressor.
I still want to go OEM black though...I think it's the best way to go.
Check out http://www.car-parts.com i think...

i think its... http://www.car-part.com without the S. but yeah you should be able to find a black interior cheap. i sold a whole interior - the front seats for 270, thats dash, rear seats, pillars, seatbelts, rug, consoles, and panels altogether.

edit: doesnt matter if theres an S or not.

painted my interior myself and it came out good. just clean all the pieces off with paint thinner, spray them with primer (spraypaint), then use duplicolor spraypaint. make sure you spray on a few light coats and not one heavy coat or it will run very bad. give the primer about 10 mins to dry and then give each coat of paint about the same amount of time. if you bump something against it the paint will most likely chip. but if you're carefull it will last.

Clean all the panels with Coke. Seriously, it takes off any shining film/crap from your dash or panels.

ok heres one for you guys.. what if your car lets say like mines a 4 door eg, Black Oem never existed. yea you can swap the dash for an eg but in a case likes mines a 4dr. they never ever made black OEM. I say get what you can in Black OEM but paint the rest black with DYE. just make sure you take your time and put on alot of nice even coats to ensure long lasting interior.
