Likelyness of breaking an axle w/ drag radials???

I'm headed to the track tomorrow for the first time...and I've got a set of Nitto 555R's that I've been using on the street with no problem. I typically launch about 5k and feather the clutch generously. I talked to my friend and know that typically at tracks...the surface is stickier...so there will be more traction. I wanna know if it is highly likely my axles will break with that high of a launch...or just launching in general at the track? What are some recommendations? I have an NA SOHC setup with stock axles, and lowered about 2.5" on Nitto 555R's. If it seems they will be very likely to break...then I'll try street tires. I have work the next day so thats why I'm very concerned otherwise I wouldn't mind as much. Plus I'm goin to be about 100 miles from home so thats another issue if something breaks.
regardless you'll be putting your self in a situation that increases the likelihood of parts breaking. If you can't afford to pay, don't play.

if you just dump your clutch at your launch then they will break, but if you let your clutch slip at you launch they can last.
there are a few gsr's on this forum that have 400+hp that run stock axels with dr's that havent broke them.

I can afford the tow and replacement of the axles...it's a matter of getting to work the next day if something happens is all. I'm just tryin to get a feel for what the tollerance level is for the stock SOHC axles.

I'm guessin about 130-140whp...I know it's not a lot...but SOHC axles are like toothpicks compared to all the other series'.
P.S. The track was rained out today...so I didn't go. Goin to try again next week...hopefully it doesn't rain.

im running stock axles, gotta 92 hatch, with LS swap. left the hole around 5k on street tires one 15lbs of pressure. now ive gotta turbo setup running mid 13s on street tires... ive gotta full throttle launch setup @ 3500

555R's are pretty good for a DOT approved street tire. My fried uses them for his Camaro...460whp, 500tq, 11.2 1/4mile...and they work really good at 15PSI. On my civic...at 30PSI on the street (much lower and I bog) gives me good traction with little spin at the begining. They are better than street tires thats all that I care right now. But yeah...I'm just worried since my friend's friend broke his axles w/ BFG's on his LS/Vtec with about the same power as me...but obviously more tq. The feedback is good though...keep it coming.

Yeah...I was referring to tire pressure. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
On a differnt note...my dept. manager took me off the schedule for next thursday so I can go run for sure if the weather is good. Might even take my dad and visiting uncle with me and show them what I can do...might not since they might get mad that I race my car...even though the car is under my name and I can afford to fix something if it breaks...we'll see.

lol, my mom was TOTALLY opposed to racing, she came to the track with me one time, and has been there almost every weekend with my dad watching me run.
you shouldnt have a problem with those axles. a guy i know runs @ the track in his CRX with slicks, stock axles, and a GSR swap, running 13.7s

i was being dumb and launched at around 5k... full clutch drop in my d15b... 555 radials too
pretty scary cause the car shook like ****.
next upgrade: polyurethane mounts on the left and right torque mounts...
(doesn't have anything to do i guess.... but my mounts, and axles are fine....

Yea when launcing the dumbest thing you can do is dump the clutch unless your whole car could take that kind of abuse. Its not a smart thing to do as if you have weak link in the chain(tranny, axles, clutch, etc.) it will kill your launch. So its better to slip the clutch and modulate the gas until you catch traction. The key is doing this at a higher RPM and not letting the RPMs drop when slipping the clutch and modulating the clutch.
I also have problems with wheel hop (the shaking and jumping you feel as your car fights for traction) I have done engine mounts and all that but what seems to be my problem is the bushings in the lower control arms. the stock ones are too soft for higher hp civics but a set of traction bars will fix that. that will be one of my next investments

If you dump the crap out of your clutch I bet they still wont break. 130-140hp isnt much and you probably dont have too much torque. Ive been to the track with my sohc turbo with stock axles a couple times with no problems.
