You can use any cable 5 speed d series tranny on your engine. Just make sure you have a matching year of clutch to go along with it.

So pretty much what you are saying that all I will need is a 5 speed tranny cable from a 91 Honda to get it from a 4 speed Manual to a 5 speed manual???

Cause if I am not mistaken I heard from somewhere that I need the whole tranny not just the cable to switch it from 4 to 5 but if I am wrong please correct me!!!

I am hoping I don't have to get another clutch cause DAMN IT MAN I just replaced that like 17,000 miles ago !!!!

I think any d series cable tranny will work. You just have to make sure the clutch is compatible.

I thought clutches don't matter as long as its for the right year make and model for the car which mine is so what would that have to do with it???

I do not see how my clutch has anything to do with it if you all say that all I need is a 5 speed tranny cable for the right yr and model...Especially when i have the right clutch for the yr and make for my car????????

Just confused here now.......

Its really easy:
- the 88 models ahve a different amount of splines on the main shaft than the 89-91 models. Also, the 90-91 models have a slightly lager disk that is used.
- all you have to do is buy the matching clutch to what ever cable tranny you purchase.
ie. if you buy a 1990 SI tranny, get the coresponding clutch to fit it.
