hehe, yeah the cx gears are REALLY long.

great for gas mileage, especially highway cruising, your rpms will be super low at high speeds.

And the tradeoff is that acceleration will be slow,
it'll take longer to rev up, but wont burn as much gas.

Also, I have a d16y8 transmission on my d15b vtec,
so a cx tranny should work fine on a y7

yup but horrible acceleration. u could probably on use 4 gears. your 5th will prob be below 2k considering your doing the speedlimit on the freeway

at 70MPH I am at 2100 RPM's on that tranny. Acceleration in 1st is OK, but everything else bites. I haven't been able to test 3rd gear Vt4cK yO! b/c that would require going like 110 or something just to engage it. I had to down shift into 2nd doing 60 on the highway today , if that tells you how long the gears are.

The same there isn't much of a difference, it will work though. All the trannies you are looking into are great fr gas mileage not performance.

If you are looking for acceleration look into the EX tranny, or the SI tranny.

Yeah I ripped the input shaft out of my Ex tranny, so I had to throw my Spare Cx tranny in and it sucks!!!!.... oh yeah and by my calculations at 7200 rpm in 5th gear you'd be doing 214 MPH

I think they went to a cable shifter, but am not 100% on that.
