Default 5 Trouble Codes! - IAC, TPS, VTEC, Knock, Ignition output..sucks shieet

I'm on the verge of being too lazy to try and figure this out, but I have to, so I thought I better hit this forum up - I checked out this page: http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/Badidle.html - Which is an extremely good resource. Thanks, to whoever took the time to post it.

***Problem***
I have some crazy *** idle that jumps from 900-2,300rpm. At start-up it automatically jumps to 4K, so first thing I thought was a vacuum leak or a problem with my TB components (I abused them because I had a leak in my FITV hose that I didn't repair for about a week: lazyness again).

***What I've done***
-- I checked all the hoses
-- throttle body/IM are all good
-- egr, doens't appear to have any bad connections
-- cleaned and checked the IAC - didn't check sensor output.

***What I plan on Doing***
I'm plan on checking the TPS for voltage (need to head to RadioShack), and I'm also considering checking the FITV.

23 - I believe this is going off because I have my plug ghetto rigged (ECU).
14 - ?!?! gasket?? bad unit?!?
15 - Ignition output signal - possibly getting triggered because of the other surrounding problems!?!?
21 - Vtec solenoid - I have NO IDEA. I'm assuming again because of the other codes: domino effect?!?!
7 - I need to check this

SIDENOTE: The engine was jus' recently rebuilt, but I'm possibly having a problem with the rings. I'm blowing white smoke under really hard/hi rpm. CTR pistons with the block supposedly brought up to service tolerance.

thanks,

greg

white smoke means your head gasket is going. as far as taking it to service limit, engine wont hold much longer

how sure are you about it being the cylinder head gasket?!?! I just had it replaced, and now I have grounds to get some sort of financial reimbursement if thats the case (head gasket).

The engine's eating oil like crazy and I can smell it, so I had assumed its the rings. I plan on having a leakdown/compression check asap.

Thanks!

All those codes at once mean either someone screwed up the wiring OR you have a bad common ground. Check the ground at the gooseneck (where the thermastat is installed). As for the white smoke, I'd guess head gasket too.

If they just did the head gasket and all these problems started up, I'd say whoever did the job was an F up. You might want to let them try again or you might want to let someone work on it who knows what they're doing.

my car has a similiar sympton and not yet fixed....erratic idling up and down 1k to 2.2k rpm, at cold 2.2k constant, warm 1.6k rpm sometime up and down and go back to 1.6k

well all this happened when i put BLOX IM in...not yet fixed

well will you start out and say when and why did you get ur crazy *** idling problem...what did you do before that.....engine 18c1? b16?

after temporarily fixed my problem i rev my car up and ramp to 6rpm or 7 lot of smoke came out...my drive drove behind coulndn't able to see the road...but after that that's it..no more smoke

is your white smoke comes out everytime u reved high?

1. i would check if all ur sensors in correct place if they do..reset ur ecu
2. if idle still high there are about 3 reasons
a. vacuum hoses are leak...(which rarely from most tuner and car owner)
b. gaskets are leaking air in....(very common cause)
c. FITV and SIAC are not working like they are suppose to

if your car is eating oil like crazy and blowing white smoke, say goodbye to your headgasket.

Well, let me say that B18's are known to smoke a bit when ridden hard. I see it at autocrosses all the time. Mine did it too.

White smoke at startup = blown HG though. I think it's a certainty.
