2004 Acura RSx made the lemon list...
http://www.lemonlaw.com/lemonlist.html
check out that link, its interesting how the 2004 RSX made the list, and pretty high up of what cars are lemons, the list is created by the amount of customer complaints per model year. I cant believe it but its right there...check it out.

That doesn't surprise me. We've had TONS of issues w/ our 2002 Type S since we bought it new. The power steering pump has been replaced twice, the window motor on the driver side, seat covers, cd player twice, I now there is more, I'm just drawing a blank. Our Type S has been in the shop sooooo many times.
at least we get to pimp the TSX's quite a bit lol.

oh im sure they've sold a decent amount, but then consider how many focus cars they've sold, probably twice as many, and then impreza's, ****, every **** and his mother owns one of those, so consider it, and the I 35, infiniti, damn, wtf, i can believe it though, when we had the G35 in for service we had that as a loaner and its so underengineered for 2004, it feels like your driving a 1998 maxima. Oh well, its a shame.
I'm surprised there weren't more complaints on Volkswagons. My friend has a Jetta and the stuff I've heard from her and different people goes to tell me that they have a ridiculous amount of problems. That's just what I've heard though.
honda quality has diminished drastically like khunt pointed out in a thread from a long time ago -- i concur with him though. It really has but still pretty high when put against other car manufacturers.
It seems like some people have had really good luck with their rsx and some people have had real bad luck.
Had the car for nearly 2 years - just around 25k, 10K turboed. No major problems. The small rattles are what **** me off

Your point is moot....

which point is moot, the initial point, or the point you have quoted?

This has everything to do with the semi-chronic 2nd-3rd gear grind issue. Lemon Laws apply when you take your car in repeatedly for repair of a specific issue, and after a certain number of attempts, if the dealer can't fix it, you can call lawyers and get the co. to buy the car back.
Now, I'm just guessing here...but with the fairly well-documented gear grind issues, there's probably lots of owners out there who just got fed up and went the litigious route. It doesn't really mean that the entire car is unreliable.
Or at least that's my take on it.

Yup, I keep telling people. Nobody ever wants to believe though. Oh and check out the other Acura on the list...The one in our lineup that I just dispise...the dreaded TL, lol.
some ppl will report and bitch bout everything
others will take abroke part as part of life..
if you buy a ford or something, it breaks your used to it.. when you buy Acura and it breaks. you cry and bitch.. just how we get used to things

That list doesn't give any details on what was being reported as broken or if it is in fact broken. I once was complaining about gear grinding and popping out but it was in fact me who didn't know how to shift properly. If you really have to be picky, you will always find something you "think" is wrong. Just my thought

agreed.
The more I read different forums, the more I'm convinced it's really just social class that really designates whether you whine... people have a set standard of tolerance and to me it sounds really arrogant to complain about problems that are either insignificant or user caused.
I'm open to the idea that there can be honest random manufacturing defects... but I work with computers and users daily... 99% of the time anything that is wrong is user error.
Go to a BMW or Mercedes forum, you'll hear even worse whiners... I actually read a guy who said about his 45,000$ mercedes "When I drive into a quiet area I can hear my air conditioning, it sounds like a jet engine... it's horrible"
I've got a little theory:
"The less you know about your car, the more you whine"
I have yet to meet a knowledgeable mechanic who knows a car really well and complain about it to the extent that I hear people on here do.

This kinda worries me, since I don't own my DC5 yet (Hopefully I will. ;P)
But the bigger question: Is this 2004 model-year specific, or is it just a report of the people complaining about in-warranty cars of that model who complained this year? The page isn't specific on that point.
In fact, clicking the link for more information, and doing a search on any complaints for the 2004 Acura RSX brings up two complaints.
Complaint #1: "VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS IN SNOW DUE TO ITS TIRES. CAUSING INABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE EVEN WITH CONCENTRATED ATTENTION."
And I've heard this many times, the stock rubber sucks.
Complaint #2:
"THIRD GEAR WOULD CONSTANTLY ENGAGE 1/2 WAY, THEN POP OUT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUST GRIND INTO PLACE. ON A QUICK TRIP TO A STORE, WHEN I SHIFTED FROM 1 TO 2, 1ST GEAR SHATTERED INTO A MILLION PEICES. DEALER BLAMED IT ON AN AFTERMARKET EXHAUST MANIFOLD, NOT ON THE OBVIOUS: A FAULTY TRANSMISSION"
Interesting complaint.. #2 was from may, so it sounds likely to me that his fell under the VINs that are included in that gear grinding service bulletin.
Also, it's quite a shock to see one of the other cars I was seriously considering top out the list.

I don't whine when **** on my EG goes bad, but when I spend $30k on a car & teh power steering goes out twice, the tranny is replaced once, and the window regulator goes out all w/in 30k miles I am pissed. Sorry. maybe it's just me.

Yes I think you guys are reading this wrong, it's The 2004 Lemon List. Meaning # of complaints in that year for that car, not the model year 2004.
I'm sure most of the complaints are 02/03 for the tranny. My 04 is perfect

regardless of how it reads, thats a lot of complaints, for any of those cars, i was damn surprised to see some of those cars, but then there were others, like the subaru, and the focus that didnt surprise me one bit.

You can relax. It's safe to buy the car, honestly. The whole 2nd-3rd gear thing has been complained about for a while now, and goes back all the way to the earlier civics/acuras. People who buy the cars are usually not used to the Honda transmissions, which happen to be one of the best out there. Some people have had legitimate problems with their trannys, while others are just not shifting clean enough.
When you shift, you have to give it a little extra muscle to make sure it's "in there". Otherwise it'll not be totally engaged and will either pop out or grind. So it's just something a person driving the car has to realize and adapt to. Especially since Honda is making each transmission progressively more tighter and closer geared. Every car is different so it's just a matter of learning it's quirks.
Back in the day, i sold my 92 EG which had a B18c5 in it and i ended up getting a 2002 Corolla just as my daily beater and the first thing i noticed was how crappy the shift feel was on that car. It felt like i was driving a Semi or something. Long *** shifts and everything was vague. Sometimes i didn't know if i was in gear or not which was scary. But in the end i learned how to deal with it and things just worked and i never had a problem.
Now i'm back to an RSX (05 model) and it's crazy how things have changed since i've had my hatchback. The transmission seems even closer than the Type-r's and i absolutely love it. It took some getting used to, (especially 6th gear, it felt strange shifting into what was normally reverse for me) but i got it. So don't let all this talk of 2nd-3rd gear thing get in the way of getting the RSX.

my window regulator in my EP3 went out at 20k miles and the dealer tried to blame it on my window tint? wtf is that? then to make things worse the dealer scratched my window tint fixing the window and i had to go back 4 times to get it repaired right. and yes i love the way honda and acuras shift, but i never grind and make sure to shift smooth and i still notice a slight notch or grind goin into second sometimes
