Default Im turning my 1999 Civic Si into a Civic EX :0

Why? Because of theft issues. I never put my key into my door key hole and today my alarm started acting funny. For some reason I cant get it in there. WHY? theres a key stuck in there. I get some needle nose plyers (later that day) and take the small piece of key out. Its a shaved down master key. Someone tried to steal my car at one point and just last week someone broke in at tried to steal it but I think the autolock scared em off because they didint take anything . The steering column plastic cover was broken but no ignition damage.

Now waht I have to do is focus attention away from my civic. Taking off the Dohc Stickers on the side, the SI badge, the si grill, the si lip, putting hubcaps on . hopefully this helps.

its still an si... and those people who tried to steal it before will proabably be back to get it later... You might wanna change your seats too ( si's have open head rests).. now that you know people are messin with your car you should take the opportunity to upgrade your security system and put in some switches.. Alot of people arent as fortunate as you and realize this too late

That sucks big ones! At least they didnt steal anything. What the hell can we do to prevent this crap. I mean, can't you get into our cars with a magnet or something? I heard that's all it takes to pop open the keyless entry locks. Is there a better alternative, a really pimp alarm system or something?

I'm ordering that. Designed for the inside of the car. The theif gets in but the sound is damaging to his tympanium and he can't find the siren so he instinctually gets as far away from the sound as possible

put so much physical security on it that they just say screw it when they look in your window, time is their enemy.

ie : put a lock on both pedals, put a steering wheel lock...IMO that's better than an alarm system since it will stop most theives before they even decide to break in.

kill switch would be ideal too if somehow they have the time to get past all that

Damn, that's too bad. Atleast get some good steelies with good tires. They do not compare to alloys.

Make sure you get the DX or HX badge....

Imo, thats a good idea..especially if you dont have anywhere to store it at night. People imo would pass up an ex ..thats if they "thought" it was an Ex

First thing I get when I get the money.

As for ideas about stoping theives. Change the seats as stated above. Loose the badges like you said. Don't get rid of your wheels though. EVERYONE and their mom rock the Si rims.

That's a good idea. But the desicion you have to make about the kill switch is if you want an on/off one or a push one. On/off = hit the button you can turn the car on hit it again you can't. push button = hold button while turning the key. Either way, make sure it's hidden. For example my on/off button is hooked up to a function button that no longer works. Good luck though.

dude, it sucks that you have to live in fear of your car being stolen, but anyone who knows anything about hondas will be able to spot an si if they look close enough.. you'd have to change alot of stuff.. i doubt it's worth it.

are you going to get rid of your rear disk brakes?
seats (as mentioned) front and rear
dark grey interior
guage cluster
steering wheel
shift ****
exhaust tip
tweeters by the mirrors

that's just some of the stuff that is a visual clue as to if it's a real si or not.
assuming that your car still has some of this stuf, it's going to be a lot of work.

either way, good luck

I know the Si's are killer cars. But is it worth the headache to have one?? You have to constantly watch your car and pray, when you wake up in the morning it is still there. Not worth it!

I would like to suggest 2 things, both of which will help you a lot since you are a victim.

#1 badge it like a EX, the emblem and all... keep the rims though.
#2 change your license plates, new numbers... you don't want to get tracked. (sound stupid? it will be different, but similar still... if they return, they will be looking for your car, badge and same plate wont fool a smart crook, but new plates... they just take it as similar color, and common si rims... perhaps you want hub locks to protect those)
