Check Engine Light - Weird Start after refueling....
Hey everyone,
This is my first post on this board. Please help! My Malfunction Indicator Light keeps coming on the last two times I have refueled. I checked it out in the manual and it said that that I need to tightened my gas cap or replace it if it is lost.
Well, I tightened it last night and it happened again today after two trips.
My light is coming on and the car is kind of idling weird (kind of putting). Anyway It stayed like that for a couple minutes and then it kicked back in and every thing was fine.
Any suggestions on what this might be?
Thanks!!!
Boinger

anything is possible. after you refuel turn key on but dont start til fuel pump kicks back off (usually 3 seconds)
Just my opinion.
How do you know it is the gas cap? The check engine light can be any sort of things. I don't think it is your gas cap.
Go to AutoZone and rent an OBD 2 computer and see what the CEL is for. AutoZone will explain how to use it. You only need 3rd grade level reading to figure it out.
Then, look up the code. My CEL kept coming on. It was my catalytic converter.
good luck.
