What are the differnces in R vs GSR seats?
I have an opportunity to pick up a set of 01' USDM R seats. I have sat in the GSR seats and I really liked them. Besides the cloth/suede material and red stitching, how do they differ? Do they have more support, sit lower, etc?
thx

One trick honda used was making the R seat 20% softer so they could make the suspension harder without making the ride toooo harsh. You will also find you won't slip & slide while on the track in the R seats + they stay cool unlike leather.
jmho - I looooove my R seats.

ITR seats don't have much leather, just some suede trim. I don't like leather seats - no grip, roasting in summer, and cold in winter. The R seats don't seem to have as deep countoring in the butt and as big side and shoulder bolsters as my CRX si seats and seem to have been designed for a fatter American than my CRX. Although I've read they are softer than the GSR seats for the reason BudMan says, the butt cushion feels harder than my CRX seats - maybe the CRX seats have worn down over 11+ years, however. My other complaint is that the seating position seems to be too high for a sports car - again the CRX is superior in that respect. However, I've had the chance to ride in a European Type-R with stock Recaros (I think this is the same as JDM setup), and those were perfect - lower seating, plus much stiffer and bigger side & thigh bolsters. If you are going to pay to replace your existing seats, you should look into Recaros if they are not that much more.

to the guy with the 25hp comment, your real bright there, you mental midget......
Try it:
"That AEM sticker adds 10 horsepower"
"That JDM badge adds 18 horsepower"
"That chrome adds 23 horsepower"
It might have been clever the first time somebody said it... back in 1996.
The seats are exactly the same except for the material.
Also, i hear all of these people say suede.... the material is not suede, it is alcantera (not to be a bitch, hehe) ... if they were suede, they would definitely not last.

The side supports on the seat are actually more snug. They hold you in a bit better then GSR seats.

someone is a little too R crazy. as was said earlier the only difference is the material covering them.... and about $600 more if you're looking to buy some
unless you are some crazt jdm stylzzz wannabe man just stick with your gsr seats imho although if you can get them cheap it might be worthwhile to buy & resell
I think this whole thread is worth about 8 whp...
If you have no sence of humor, don't force it on me please...

What do you mean "R Crazy". ANYONE, who comes on a "Type-R forum" is R crazy. Don't "hate" just because I am telling it how it is. What i said is completely true. End of discussion.

the material on the bolsters of the type-r seats(usdm) is a material called..alcantra, which is similar to suede but stronger...

Have you ever sat in Type R seats
As a matter of fact I have. Have you ever sat in GSR seats? Doesn't sound like you have. They're the same.
